Lamborghini works driver Marco Mapelli lines up for Dresden-based T3 Motorsport for the first time at the team’s home event at the Sachsenring.
The Italian starts alongside regular driver Maximilian Paul at the iconic circuit at the wheel of the #72 Lamborghini Huracán GT3.
“Lamborghini is always trying to expand the support it offers its customer teams,” says Mapelli. “The goal is to improve the overall performance so far and to help the team with my knowledge of the car. T3 Motorsport is developing very quickly and the whole team is working very hard.”
Mapelli has made a name for himself as an international GT star in recent years. In 2019, he won the overall, sprint and endurance titles in the Blancpain GT Series. The Italian has also been racing in the ADAC GT Masters with various Lamborghini teams since 2017 and has already contested 31 races in the series – the latest of these came this season in Zandvoort with the GRT Grasser Racing Team. The 34-year-old is now in his fifth year as a Lamborghini works driver and won an ADAC GT Masters race in Zandvoort in 2018.
It is not yet clear whether Mapelli will also start for T3 Motorsport in the following races in Hockenheim and the Nürburgring.
