The Lamborghini Junior is looking forward to his second season in the ADAC GT Masters, in which he lines up for the GRT Grasser Racing Team again.
As in 2020, the young man from Langenargen will share the Austrian team’s Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo with Dutchman Steijn Schothorst. Last season, the two newcomers to the series impressed with three pole positions and third place in Hockenheim. Zimmermann also won the fiercely-competitive Pirelli Junior competition for young drivers. “The Junior title meant the year was incredibly successful. I am now looking to back up that success with this great team,” said the 24-year-old. The youngster received high praise from his team principal Gottfried Gasser: “Tim showed that he can compete with the more experienced guys in the field. It was only logical for us to continue our cooperation in 2021.”
When it comes to setting goals for this season, Zimmermann is rather reserved: “I am taking it one race at a time. I want to do the best job and always get the best possible result.” Unlike in 2019, the German will also line up for the GRT Grasser Racing Team in races outside the ADAC GT Masters. “The programme will be very demanding, but I am very honoured that Grasser, Lamborghini and my sponsors are allowing me so many outings. That clearly shows me that we are on the right track. I am sure that I will benefit from the opportunity to do so much driving.”
After kicking off his season at the 24 Hours of Daytona in January, Zimmermann can hardly wait to get cracking in Europe. “I am looking forward to the year ahead. I hope everyone stays fit and we are able to weather this pandemic,” he says. “And hopefully we will have the fans back at the circuits this year. That would be really awesome.”
