The Zakspeed Mobil Krankenkasse Racing team has completed its driver line-up for the ADAC GT Masters with the addition of Igor Walilko.
The Pole will partner former champion Jules Gounon in the number 13 Mercedes-AMG GT3. “We are pleased to finally be able to announce Igor as our fourth driver,” says team principal Peter Zakowski. “We did not take this decision lightly and checked thoroughly to wee who would best suit Jules. Igor impressed us during several tests and we are now looking forward to contesting the new season together with him and the others.”
Walilko underwent a special selection procedure to secure his place in the Zakspeed cockpit. After multiple tests, Peter and Philipp Zakowski chose the 23-year-old, who impressed the team from Niederzissen with his talent and professionalism.
Walilko made his ADAC GT Masters debut last season, gaining his first experience in a GT3 sports car at the wheel of an Audi R8 LMS. However, an injury brought his season to a premature end.
Hendrik Still and Austria’s Constantin Schöll will share the driving duties in the second Zakspeed Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
