Zakspeed to line up in the ADAC GT Masters again in 2022

Iconic team remains an integral part of the ADAC GT Masters. Team to run two Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo again in 2022. Two Mercedes-AMG GT4 also planned for ADAC GT4 Germany.

One of the most successful and renowned racing teams in Germany will remain a fixture of the ADAC GT Masters in 2022: the Zakspeed Mobil Krankenkasse Racing team will again line up with two Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in the series, and will also continue to run two Mercedes-AMG GT4 in ADAC GT4 Germany. Ahead of the penultimate race weekend of the German GT Championship in Hockenheim this weekend (22nd to 24th October), Zakspeed is still well positioned in the title race: after two wins in the last three races, Igor Waliłko (24/PL) and former champion Jules Gounon (26/F) are currently fifth in the table.

“It is nice to be able to announce the plans for next year before the end of the current season. We made our ADAC GT Masters debut back in 2009 and are pleased to say that the series remains a permanent part of our GT programme,” says team principal Peter Zakowski. “With this in mind, we will obviously also continue to compete in ADAC GT4 Germany.”

Formula 1, Deutsche Rennsport-Meisterschaft, IMSA series in the USA, FIA GT, DTM, V8 Star, STW and ADAC GT Masters: the list of racing series, in which the team has competed since it was formed in 1968, is nothing short of impressive. The Niederzissen-based team, which started in Formula 1 between 1985 and 1989, has so far racked up 22 titles and just short of 500 race wins. In the ADAC GT Masters, the team has been running Mercedes-AMG cars since 2014. In 2015, Zakspeed won the Drivers title with Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig.

As well as the ADAC GT Masters, Zakspeed will also line up in ADAC GT4 Germany again, as well as running two Mercedes-AMG GT4 in ADAC GT4 Germany. Ahead of the final two races of the season, Jan Marschalkowski (18/Inning) and Théo Nouet (18/F) currently lie second in ADAC GT4 Germany with three victories to their name this season. Nouet also holds a commanding lead in the Junior competition. The racing team will also expand its activities on a European level, with the addition of a programme in the GT4 European Series.

Zakspeed will announce the drivers for the four Mercedes-AMG in the two ADAC racing series in 2022 at a later date.
