FIA ETCR eTouring Car World Cup visits Germany for the first time. Ekström, Spengler and Martin in 680-hp electric touring cars. The ADAC GT Masters continues to champion sustainability.
Premiere in the ADAC GT Masters at the Sachsenring: The FIA ETCR eTouring Car World Cup lines up in Germany for the first time. When the Sachsenring hosts the German GT Championship from 23rd to 25th September, the new and innovative world cup will make its first appearance on German soil. Big motorsport names like FIA World Rallycross Champion Mattias Ekström and former ADAC GT Masters drivers Bruno Spengler and Maxime Martin battle it out at the wheel of 680-hp cars from Cupra, Hyundai and Alfa Romeo in the new series for electric touring cars.

Launched in 2021 as PURE ETCR, the ETCR racing is now in its second season. The inaugural winner was Sweden’s Mattias Ekström. Inspired by Rallycross, the majority of the events will be held in the form of “battles”, each contested by just a small number of cars, until the best from each pool go head to head in a final. One crucial part of the format are the performance boosts: This “power up” mode is available to all the competitors for a few seconds and temporarily increases the maximum output to 500 kW (680 hp). The electric cars accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
FIA ETCR is been committed to climate-neutrality. The issue of sustainability is also an integral element of the ADAC GT Masters. Together with series partner BWT, the ADAC launched a success-ful initiative back in 2021. Roughly 100,000 plastic bottles are saved by installing water dispensers in the team, media and organisational areas. In the 2022 season, this concept has been expanded to incorporate ADAC GT Masters spectator areas. This year, Shell is supplying the German GT Championship with its renewable fuel “Shell Blue Gasoline 98 GT Masters”. 50 % of the compo-nents in this fuel are sustainable, contributing significantly to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
The next round of this season’s ADAC GT Masters takes place from 19h to 21th August at the DEKRA Lausitzring. All ADAC GT Masters races start at 13:00.
