Ferrari will launch a new GT3 car in 2023, and the Italians have now revealed the initial design sketches for the 296 GT3.
Ferrari will employ six cylinders for the first time in its new GT3 model. The successor to the 430, 458 and 488, which all enjoyed success in the ADAC GT Masters and were powered by mid-mounted V8 engines, will be driven by a V6 turbo engine. However, in line with GT3 regulations, the car will not feature the standard hybrid system. The Italians have now presented initial design sketches of the new GT3 car, which is currently being assembled and will be tested at the racetrack over the coming months. The Ferrari will be delivered to customer teams in time for the 2023 season.
The new model is being built for the first time by Oreca, the sports car and GT specialists from France. Kessel Racing from Switzerland and subsequently Michelotto from Italy were responsible for its predecessors. Oreca is the most successful chassis manufacturer in the LMP2 class and, among other things, led the first generation of Dodge Viper and the Saleen S7-R to success on the GT racing scene. The 296 GT3 has big shoes to fill from next year: With 429 race wins and 107 titles, the 488 GT3 was the most successful racing model in the history of Ferrari.
