Successful start for Jusuf Owega (20/Cologne) at round five of the ADAC GT Masters at the DEKRA Lausitzring. The Audi driver from the Montaplast by Land-Motorsport team was the only driver to dip below 1:22.000 minutes in the first free practice session, setting a fastest time of 1:21.986 minutes. In doing so, the youngster from Cologne, at the wheel of the #29 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, showed that he and his partner Ricardo Feller (22/CH) are still a force to be reckoned with in the title race.
Konsta Lappalainen (21/FIN) and Mick Wishofer (22/A), in the #14 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo of the Emil Frey Racing team, were second fastest, a little over a tenth of a second slower. Their team-mates Jack Aitken (26/GB) and Albert Costa Balboa (32/E) were third in the #63 Lamborghini. The fastest Mercedes-AMG drivers in FP1 were Fabian Schiller (25/Troisdorf) and Jules Gounon (27/F) from Drago Racing Team ZVO. Championship leader Raffaele Marciello (27/CH) and his new partner Daniel Juncadella (31/E) from Mann-Filter Team Landgraf completed the top five in the #48 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
An overcast sky welcomed the 22 pairs of drivers to the first free practice session at the DEKRA Lausitzring on Friday morning. With track temperatures above 23 degrees, it did not take the drivers long to warm their tyres up and set some fast lap times. Jusuf Owega set his fastest time 14 minutes into the practice at the 3.478-kilometre circuit, and it remained unbeaten until the end of the one-hour session.
