Madpanda team principal Companc: "ADAC GT Masters is one of the best GT sprint championships in Europe and the world"

Madpanda Motorsport will debut a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo nicknamed "Marga" in the German GT Championship in 2022. In an interview, Ezequiel Companc, team principal of the first Spanish squad in the ADAC GT Masters, explains what attracts him to the series and what the season's goals are.

Why do a third year of GT World Challenge Europe Endurance and enter the ADAC GT Masters?

It was a very difficult decision to not do the GTWC Sprint Cup, but in the end it's good not to be only linked to SRO. For sure we are having amazing seasons with them, and we have achieved lots of great results in the last two years. However, I think it's time for us to take on new challenges and move on to other championships as well, like the ADAC GT Masters. In my opinion, this is one of the best GT sprint championships in Europe and in the world. The level is super high and there is always a big and strong grid. The German fans are incredible as well! I've already raced there in 2017 and 2018 and I had a fantastic time. I'm really looking forward to coming back to this paddock.

What is your main objective in the ADAC GT Masters in your first season as team principal?

We obviously know that the ADAC GT Masters is going to be a tough challenge, but I know we are more than ready for it. The team has grown a lot over the last two years and we’ve been doing a mega job since our start. We want to be fighting for podiums and potentially the championship as well. The aim is to have a good season, even if it's our first one. We come with high expectations.

What do you like about this very competitive championship?

I really like the seriousness of the championship, you know the rules from the start, you can't get around them. It's black or white, no grey areas. I like this kind of approach. When you do well, drivers and teams prove themselves in the GT world. I'm really looking forward to the first race.
