The event at the Red Bull Ring (22nd to 24th September) will be a very special one for Michael Joos. After three years, the 32-year-old is set to make his comeback on the ADAC GT Masters grid. As the man with overall responsibility for Team Joos by Racemotion, he is usually to be found on the pit wall. At the fifth round of this season’s iconic GT series, Joos himself will be in the cockpit of a Porsche 911 GT3 R and will go up against his two drivers Finn Gehrsitz (Stuttgart) and Sven Müller (Bingen) at the Formula 1 circuit.
“I am really pleased that we are now able to run both our Porsche 911 GT3 R in the ADAC GT Masters at the same time. As a team, we are ready to take that step. I am sure that we will master this double shift. We believe in the ADAC GT Masters and want to make a statement with this start. For me personally, it will be a challenge to test myself against the top drivers in this series,” says Joos. His two protégés, Gehrsitz and Müller, are in the thick of the title race in the ADAC GT Masters, and currently lie second in the championship. Team Joos by Racemotion will announce Joos’ partner for his spectacular outing at a later date.
In 2020, Joos made two guest appearances alongside Julien Andlauer (F) and Marco Holzer (D) at the Nürburgring and the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg. The Porsche driver fared well in the international field in the ADAC GT Masters, finishing twelfth on both occasions. Timo Bernhard showed that the Alpine circuit in the Styria region of Austria is a happy hunting ground for team principals. The two-time winner of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans made it onto the top step of the podium at the Red Bull Ring together with Austrian Klaus Bachler in 2019.
