Team Joos lines up in the ADAC GT Masters again in 2024. The Porsche in the familiar colours of partner Twin Busch will be driven by two newcomers.
Michael Joos’ team will take its place on the ADAC GT Masters grid for the fourth year in a row. In the 2024 season, the team from Vöhringen will again run a Porsche 911 GT3 R in the familiar and popular Twin Busch design. The team will line up for the first time under the name “Team Joos by Twin Busch”, underlining the close partnership between the Joos team and well-known workshop outfitter Twin Busch. Alternating at the wheel of the yellow and blue car will be twins Johannes and Michael Kapfinger. They will have their sights set on the title in the Junior competition, and with it the coveted ticket for a place in the DTM in 2025, as part of the “Road to DTM” initiative.
Team Joos by Twin Busch has been one of the top teams in the ADAC GT Masters for a number of years. In the past two seasons, Michael “Michi” Joos’ outfit has been in contention for the title right down to the finale.
Twins Johannes and Michael Kapfinger will be at the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 R with the Twin Busch livery. The two 20-year-olds competed in the GT Winter Series last year, claiming several podiums and one race win in their rookie season. Johannes won the Drivers’ Championship in this series – a feat he also achieved in the Porsche Sports Cup Swiss, where he won the title in the Sprint Challenge and was consequently invited to the Porsche Junior Shootout. Brother Michael matched him, comfortably winning the title in the GT Open class of the Porsche Sports Cup Swiss series. At the end of the season, the twins were given the opportunity to drive a Porsche 911 GT3 R for Team Joos Sportwagentechnik at the finale in Misano. Here too, they were victorious at the first attempt.
Together, the two brothers are now looking to take their next step in the ADAC GT Masters. Their first target is the title in the Junior competition. Should they achieve that goal, it would put them in a perfect position to qualify for the “Road to DTM”. The season’s best Junior receives a guaranteed starting place in the 2025 DTM, courtesy of ADAC and the “Road to DTM”. However, Joos by Twin Busch also hopes to have a say in the overall championship. To this end, the team and its two drivers will undergo an extensive programme of testing in the winter, in order to ensure they are as well prepared as possible coming into the season.
Michael Joos, team principal: “I am very happy to be racing in the ADAC GT Masters again in 2024. With the “Road to DTM”, they have laid the ideal foundations to give the young drivers a great platform. In Johannes and Michael Kapfinger, we have two rough diamonds in the car. They have really impressed me with their performances. Together, we want to challenge for the Junior title and thus to compete in the “Road to DTM”. However, I also believe we are capable of challenging at the top of the overall table. The new name “Team Joos by Twin Busch” emphasises our close relationship with Twin Busch, to whom we are very grateful for their many years of support.”
Johannes Kapfinger, driver: “I can hardly wait to start alongside my twin brother in the ADAC GT Masters! I first got to know Team Joos by Twin Busch in the GT Winter Series, and the chemistry was right from the word go. I believe we have a strong team spirit and will have a successful season with Team Joos by Twin Busch. I am really looking forward to taking the next step towards a career as a professional racing driver together with my brother.”
Michael Kapfinger, driver: “With my twin brother as my driving partner, and with Team Joos by Twin Busch, I am sure that we will have a say in the destination of the title in the 2024 ADAC GT Masters. I got to know the team at my successful debut for Joos by Twin Busch in the Porsche Sports Cup Swiss in Misano. I was immediately convinced that we can achieve a lot together. I am very much looking forward to the new challenge!”
