Grasser Racing Team and its driver Tim Zimmermann (Langenargen) immediately made it clear that they are up for their home race weekend, setting the fastest time of Friday’s two practice sessions in the ADAC GT Masters. “The different conditions on Friday allowed us to prepare well for the two races on Saturday and Sunday. We are obviously striving for the first win of the season at our home event,” said Zimmermann, who shares the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 with Chilean Benjamin Hites.
The ADAC GT Masters took to the track for the first time in heavy rain on Friday morning. The challenging conditions twice lead to suspensions, with the second actually resulting in the session ending prematurely. The shortened practice saw championship leader Elias Seppänen (FIN) from Landgraf Motorsport set the first benchmark of the weekend, stopping the clock at 1:39.654 minutes in his Mercedes-AMG GT3. With the rain decreasing, the second practice session produced some faster lap times in the afternoon. This time, it was Zimmermann who recorded the fastest lap of FP2. The Grasser driver took 1:39.263 minutes to complete the 4.318-kilometre lap faster than anyone else on Friday. The second-fastest lap of the day came courtesy of Seppänen, ahead of third-placed Jean-Luc D´Auria in a Ferrari 296 GT3 for Emil Frey Racing. In fourth place was Salman Owega (Cologne/Haupt Racing Team) in a Mercedes-AMG GT3. Fifth place went to Jannes Fittje (Langenhain) in Haupt Racing Team’s second Mercedes-AMG GT3.
The protagonists in the ADAC GT Masters are back on track at 08:45 on Saturday morning for the first qualifying of the weekend. This will determine who starts race nine of the season from pole position at 15:15. Both sessions will be streamed live, in German and English, on the free ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel: youtube.com/@ADACMotorsports. Television partner Sport1 will broadcast all the race action live on German free-to-air TV, with coverage beginning at 15:00.
