Haupt Racing Team was again the dominant force in its second season in the ADAC GT Masters: with four wins, a total of nine podiums, and three pole positions to its name, the Mercedes-AMG outfit successfully defended its Team title in the iconic series – a feat that only Reiter Engineering and Prosperia C. Abt Racing had achieved before them. The team from Drees completed the success at the season finale at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg.
David Schumacher (Salzburg) and last year’s champion Salman Owega (Cologne), in one of the three Mercedes-AMG GT3, were instrumental in the successful title defence. The duo won the first endurance race in front of their home crowd at the Nürburgring, as well as the 250th race in the ADAC GT Masters. The two Mercedes-AMG drivers claimed their third victory in race eleven of the season in Hockenheim. The next HRT drivers to take their place on the top step of the podium were Jannes Fittje (Langenhain) and Finn Wiebelhaus (Obertshausen), who presented the team with its fourth win of the season at the Red Bull Ring.
The third pairing of Max Reis (Ramstein) and Kwanda Mokoena (ZA) also provided the team with some fine moments. They finished third in the opening race of the season at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben to present the team with its first podium. The Mercedes-AMG outfit ran a fourth car at the Red Bull Ring: Dennis Fetzer (Buseck) and team owner Hubert Haupt (Munich) were fast from the word go and promptly picked up two victories in the ProAm class. This was a first in the ADAC GT Masters, as no team had ever fielded four cars in the same race before.
Ulrich Fritz, CEO of Haupt Racing Team GmbH, was full of praise for the outstanding performance of his team, and also offers an insight into the coming season: “Defending the title in the Team competition, with four race wins and a further five podiums in the ADAC GT Masters, was testimony to our concept of youth development. Our young drivers have undergone an extremely positive development over the course of the season. All our pairings made it onto the podium at least once, which is proof of how balanced and potent our team is. We want to stick to this concept in the future and to continue to promote talented youngsters within the ADAC GT Masters.”
The ADAC GT Masters will feature a total of six events at attractive racetracks in Germany, the Netherlands and Austria in 2025. They include a first appearance at the Salzburgring from 5th to 9th September. The drivers will be able to showcase their skills on the high-profile DTM platform at six race weekends. HRT begins its latest pursuit of the title at the season-opener, which takes place from 23rd to 25th May at the Dekra Lausitzring.
