Fantastic news in the ADAC GT Masters: after Wolf-Racing confirmed it would be making its debut in the series at the Red Bull Ring from 27th to 29th September, a further two cars will now be joining the field. As well as the Porsche 911 GT3 R of DB-Motorsport, the ‘racing one’ team will also make its first appearance in the ADAC GT Masters when its Ferrari 296 GT3 lines up at the 4.318-kilometre circuit in Spielberg. Both cars will start in the ProAm class, adding to an already competitive field in this category.
For the DB-Motorsport team, Hermann Speck (D) and Austrian Gerhard Tweraser will be at the wheel for the event in the Styria region. Speck is returning to the ADAC GT Masters after an absence of more than 16 years. He made his debut in the iconic series alongside Robert Renauer in a Porsche GT3 Cup at the Lausitzring in 2008. 5865 days after his last race, he is back again to face the challenge of the ADAC GT Masters at the Red Bull Ring. Tweraser has already appeared this season at the events in Zandvoort (NL), at the Nürburgring and at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. He is now set to contest his 16th race weekend in the ADAC GT Masters at his home event in Spielberg. “The main thing for us is to gauge where we stand in this high-quality field. If we do well, we may start more often in the future,” says team principal Daniel Badum.
The ‘racing one’ team fields the second Ferrari in this season’s field. The outfit from the Rhineland-Palatinate has raced on the ADAC platform in the past. Between 2016 and 2019, they lined up in the ADAC TCR Germany series and were in contention for the title for much of the 2018 season with Niels Langeveld (NL), who eventually finished third. In 2022, they ended the ADAC GT4 Germany season in eighth place in the Drivers’ Championship. At the wheel of the jumping horse will be Austria’s Ernst Kirchmayr and Fabrizio Crestani from Italy. Crestani comes from a Formula racing background and has raced in the talent factory that was GP2 in the past. In recent years, he has gained a wealth of experience in national and international GT3 racing. His team-mate Kirchmayr is very familiar with the manufacturer from Maranello, having won the title in the Ferrari Challenge Europe and the subsequent World Final in 2021. Team principal Martin Kohlhaas has great expectations of the event: “We want to broaden our horizon with our start in the ADAC GT Masters. This series can look back on a long tradition and has aroused our interest with its realignment. We are very excited and looking forward to many thrilling battles.”
