Dennis Fetzer enters his second season with HRT and is the first driver to be confirmed for the Ford programme in the ADAC GT Masters.
Dennis Fetzer is set for his first full season in the ADAC GT Masters. After a guest start last year at the Red Bull Ring, which ended successfully with two class victories, the racer from Gießen will now contest the whole season in the prestigious series. The 23-year-old has been confirmed as the first driver for the Ford programme at double Team champions HRT, for whom he will drive one of the new Mustang GT3. Fetzer’s team-mate will be announced at a later date. As well as the ADAC GT Masters, Fetzer will also line up in a Mustang GT3 on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) and the ADAC Ravenol 24h Race.
Three questions for Dennis Fetzer
On both the German motorsport scene and beyond, excitement levels are rising ahead of the Ford’s big return. What does it mean to you to drive the Mustang GT3? Dennis Fetzer: For me, it is rather special to be part of Ford’s epic return to German and European motor racing. I am really into the history of motorsport, and everyone knows that this brand plays a big role in that. A big thank you goes to Haupt Racing Team for putting their faith in me again and making it possible for us to represent this brand together.
How long will it take you to get used to the Ford Mustang GT3? Dennis Fetzer: Over the course of my career, I have driven almost every make of car and never had any major issues adapting. Generally speaking, the good weight distribution and location of the engine and gearbox give me a lot of confidence. The Mustang is a very driver-friendly race car. We are currently planning which tests we can still fit in before the start of the season, and I am confident we will prepare as well as possibly!
As well as top results in the ADAC GT Masters and NLS, the big goal will be a good result in the 24h Nürburgring. What objectives have you set yourself? Dennis Fetzer: I think, particularly for that race, it is initially all about finishing and avoiding mistakes – as always. That is extremely important, particularly with a new car. Ford’s recent victory in the 24-hour race in Daytona gives me a lot of confidence and even more motivation ahead of the start of the season. The team and I will obviously do our very best, even if there are factors that we cannot necessarily influence. The goal – for all the series and races I will drive in this year – is to challenge at the front of the field and to test myself against the best!
