World championship rider Max Nagl is to get more top-class competition at the next race weekend of the ADAC MX Masters in Aichwald near Stuttgart (June 22nd- 23rd). The 25-year-old Bavarian, who rides for KMP Honda, heads the standings in Europe's leading motocross series. Quick Brit Max Anstie intends to line up again on the iconic track with Team Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe and French motocross star Grégory Aranda (Sturm Racing Team) will also become a regular competitor, beginning with the Aichwald fixture; the 23-year-old has heard so many good things about the ADAC MX Masters in his native France that he has decided to contest the remaining twelve races spread over six weekends.
After the extremely muddy conditions last time out in Reutlingen, members of organising club MSC Eiserne Hand hope that the sun will shine. "We get more than 10,000 spectators in good weather," as club chairman Manuel Dorn told us. The ADAC MX Masters in Aichwald will feature three categories. In the main event, a top-class field of riders will contest the ADAC MX Masters (International German Motocross Championship). Apart from Nagl, Aranda and Anstie, German motocross ace Dennis Ullrich (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) is another likely contender for a place in the top three. Seven-time French champion Sébastien Pourcel (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) and Danish rider Kasper Lynggaard (Team Yamaha Motor Germany) are also in with a chance of achieving leading positions.
In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, all eyes will be on 20-year-old local rider Lars Reuther (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) from nearby Pleidelsheim, who is a hot favourite for victory after his brace of wins in Reutlingen. He is just one point behind overall leader Brent van Doninck (Belgium/KTM Scott Racing) in the standings. The ADAC MX Junior Cup is a training ground for future MX aces and the young riders are aged between ten and 15. Spaniard Jorge Prado (KTM Factory Red Bull) currently leads the junior rankings with 50 points.
Now in its ninth season, the ADAC MX Masters is a family-friendly event. A two-day ticket costs 15 euros for adults and 8 euros for teenagers with free entry for children under 10. Included in the admission price: use of the ADAC Young Generation Suzuki quad track and the ADAC Insurance bouncy castle for kids, admission to the fan zone with motocross merchandise stalls and to the Suzuki off-road course, plus an autograph signing session with the top riders on Sunday at 11.55am. The ADAC truck will form the backdrop to Red Bull athlete Chris Pfeiffer and his stunt show at 12.30pm and 2.30pm. It's party time in the marquee on Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 7pm, when Bavarian band D'Wobbls will perform live - admission open to all aged 16 years and over.
