Plenty of thrilling motocross sport action delighted spectators at the weekend in Fürstlich Drehna (Brandenburg). The ADAC MX Masters was a joy to watch with six exciting races, featuring numerous hard-fought scraps and spectacular jumps. Max Nagl (KMP Honda Racing Team) achieved a double victory in the ADAC MX Masters (German International Motocross Championship). "I'm totally thrilled at winning both these races and getting a big boost to my self-confidence. This track is tougher than many others on the world championship circuit," said an overjoyed Nagl (Weilheim).
In Europe's most popular motocross series, watched by 10,000 spectators, Nagl comfortably won the first race with a time of 34:38.182 minutes, finishing well up on British rider Max Anstie (Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe, 35:29.900) and current ADAC MX Masters Champion Marcus Schiffer (Suzuki Waldmann, 35:54.127). In the second event, Nagl overtook his opponents in the world championship during a thrilling scrap with just two laps to go to the finish line, enabling him to take the win from Anstie and Kasper Lynggaard (Team Yamaha Motor Germany). The overall winner of the weekend is determined by aggregating the points awarded per race; Nagl secured 50 points, Anstie 44 and Schiffer 34.
Belgian Brent van Doninck (KTM Scott Racing) made a good start in the ADAC MX Youngsters Cup. He won the first race from Ron Noffz (Greifswald, Kalli Racing) and Lars Reuther (Pleidelsheim, KTM Sarholz Racing Team). "Fitness played a big part in my win. I coped extremely well with the difficult track conditions," said Van Doninck after the finish. In the second points-scoring race, Noffz was the first to take the chequered flag from Slovenian Peter Irt (Vamo Racing) in second place and van Doninck, who was third. Winner of the day Noffz: "I knew that this was going to my race. The top spot on the podium is the icing on the cake."
In the ADAC MX Junior Cup (for riders aged ten to 15 years), the international flavour of the series was reflected in the results: In the first race, Spanish rider Jorge Prado (KTM Factory Red Bull) coped best with the sandy track, securing the win from the Danish rider Glen Meier (Kosack Racing Team) and Czech teenager Jakub Teresak (Mefo Sport Racing Team). Prado also won the second race, relegating the Finn Kim Savaste (KTM Motorsport Finland) and Karka Dovydas from Lithuania to second and third place respectively. Winner of the day Prado thus collected 50 important points towards the overall standings during this first race weekend.
The motocross weekend was full of ups and downs for the ADAC Sports Foundation protégés: Stefan Ekerold (17, Weiskirchen, KTM Kosack Racing) and Henry Jacobi (16, Bad Sulza, KTM Sarholz Racing) secured14th and 25th place respectively in the daily standings of the ADAC MX Youngsters Cup. Moving up from the ADAC MX Junior Cup, Brian Hsu (15, Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe) failed to qualify for the main starting field via the Last Chance Race. In the second race, Hsu joined his fellow competitors as substitute and rode from P40 on the grid to finish 24th. In the ADAC MX Junior Cup, neither Jeremy Sydow (12 KTM Scott Racing Team by Badenlogistik) nor Tim-René Neumann (13, Kalli Racing) finished in the points.
Local hero Toni Wolff, riding for organising club MSC Fürstlich Drehna, qualified for the main field of the ADAC MX Masters after a valiant effort in the Last Chance Race. He crashed out in the first race and did not finish. In the second event, he came home in P28.
The next race weekend of the ADAC MX Masters takes place from 11th to 12th May in Reutlingen with the ADAC MX Youngsters Cup and the ADAC MX Masters. The ADAC MX Junior Cup riders will be taking a break.
