Max Anstie posts fastest lap : Exciting start to the season for ADAC MX Masters

The long wait was over for motocross fans on Saturday; they were presented with a huge starting field of 221 riders at the ADAC MX Masters season-opener in Brandenburg, all trying to secure the best time possible in qualifying. British World Championship rider Max Anstie (Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe) did the best job in the ADAC MX Masters class (German International Motocross Championship). The 20-year-old has the top position for the two points-scoring races on Sunday. World championship buddy Max Nagl (KMP Honda Racing Team) achieved the second best time. Current ADAC MX Masters Champion Marcus Schiffer (Suzuki Waldmann) claimed the third-best time.

"This is my first event at Fürstlich Drehna and I think the track is smashing. First place in qualifying is great. The people here are really friendly. I'm looking forward to Sunday's race," said Anstie. Nagl was not entirely happy to finish after qualifying in the rainy weather. "I had technical problems to deal with. Now I'll have to see how this affects my race," said the 25-year-old Bavarian. Just like Nagl, Anstie plans to contest all the ADAC MX Masters races, providing that fits in with his world championship commitments.

Lars Reuther (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) took the honours with the fastest lap of all the riders competing in the ADAC MX Youngsters Cup. The 20-year-old trainee from Southern Germany was pleased about the choice of first starting place: "I did not think that I would do so well here. The track is challenging because of the many bumps and dips. I've trained a lot on sand and that's paying off now. "Reuther consigned Noffz (Greifswald, Kalli Racing and the Frenchman Boris Maillard (Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team) to grid positions two and three respectively.

In the ADAC MX Junior Cup (for drivers aged from ten to 15 years), the Dane Glen Meier (Kosack Racing Team) won through against the Finn Kim Savaste (KTM Motorsport Finland) and Jorge Prado (KTM Factory Red Bull ) from Spain. "I felt very comfortable on the track. I love the sandy subsoil and the jumps. It's my fourth time here in Fürstlich Drehna and I want to win this time on Sunday, "said the 14-year-old Meier.

Riders from 26 nations will battle it out at the historic track, Rund um den Mühlberg, during Sunday's races, in their bid to secure the first points-scoring finishes in Europe's most popular motocross series.
