Nagl wraps it up: Victory for fan-favourite: ADAC MX Masters: World championship rider Max Nagl dominates race

Hard work gets its just reward: Motocross world championship rider Max Nagl (KMP Honda Racing Team) won Sunday´s ADAC MX Masters. The 25-year-old proved his skill on the Aichwald track in South West Germany and achieved victory in the daily classification after going on a charge. He beat Slovenian rider Tim Gajser (Marchetti Racing) and Frenchman Grégory Aranda (Sturm Racing Team) to the top position. "That was really something for the fans. Proper motocross racing, for sure! I had to fight it out against strong competition and got goose pimples when I realised I´d won," said an overjoyed Nagl. 18,700 spectators attended the third race weekend of the ADAC MX Masters in Aichwald near Stuttgart and thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle.

Nagl made a sensational comeback after a poor start in the first race on Sunday that saw him drop down to eleventh place. Nagl worked his way back to the front of the field in the space of six laps and had extended his lead on second-placed Gajser to 16 seconds at the finish line. 19-year-old German Dennis Ullrich (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) won through twice at the start and secured valuable points in Europe´s most popular motocross series, the prestigious International German Championship Motocross Championship. Crowd favourite Nagl produced electrifying racing in the second race as well: He was only in fourth position after the start but picked off the strong opposition with steely determination. "It looked easier than it actually was," said the championship leader. Nagl leads with 138 points from fellow German rider Ullrich with 99 points and Frenchman Sébastien Pourcel (both KTM Sarholz Racing Team, 94 points).

ADAC MX Youngster Cup

Local rider Lars Reuther (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) from the nearby town of Pleidelsheim let out a whoop for joy after crossing the finish line. The 20-year-old took first place on the day in the ADAC Youngster Cup from fellow German Dominique Thury (Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil). "The spectators spurred me on to success. I could hear their cheers ringing out each time I jumped even under my crash helmet and that encouraged me enormously," said Reuther, who leads the overall standings with 135 points after three of eight events, followed by Brent van Doninck (Belgium/KTM Scott Racing, 120 points) and Thury (66 points).

ADAC MX Junior Cup

The youngest motocross riders also produced exciting racing in the ADAC MX Junior Cup. Among the riders aged from ten to 15, Danish youngster Glen Meier (Kosak Racing Team) took victory on the day with a second and a first place. The 14-year-old schoolboy from Trige not far from Aaarhus revealed the secret of his success after the award ceremony: "My 11-year-old sister Sanne was here at the track, and that gave me the extra boost I needed in the race." In the overall standings, Kim Savaste (FIN/KTM Motorsport Finland) leads with 73 points from Jakub Teresak (Czech Republic/Mefo Sport Racing Team, 71 points) and Meier with 69 points.

ADAC motorcycle racing advisor Dieter Junge, ADAC Head of Motorsport Lars Soutschka and Manfred Rückle, ADAC speed boat racing advisor and member of the board at ADAC Württemberg observed events at the track and thought that the MX races were just the ticket, as Rückle told us: "I always enjoy attending fixtures and watching motocross in the metal. The races give me a real buzz and seeing so many spectators at Aichwald was just great."

The next round of the ADAC MX Masters will be staged in Tensfeld, Schleswig-Holstein. After tackling the hard Aichwald track, riders will be in for a very different challenge at the notoriously sandy circuit by the sea (20th-21st July).
