On Saturday, the ADAC MX Masters in Gaildorf was all about practice and qualifying. Championship leader Dennis Ullrich (Sarholz KTM Racing Team) added substance to his title aspirations at the motocross track near Stuttgart. He achieved by far and away the fastest time in dry, late-summer weather conditions on the 1.65km clay track. The 20-year-old was almost a full second quicker than the other 52 drivers in his class. "I came here well prepared and showed how fast I am. My goal for the remaining races is to finish on the podium every time," said Ullrich, setting out his ambitions.
The second quickest in qualifying, French rider Gregory Aranda (Sturm Racing Team, Kawasaki) is full of self- confidence in the run-up to Sunday´s races. "There are many speedy riders in the ADAC MX Masters, and I am one of them. I aim to win," said Aranda after crossing the finish line. And 30-year-old veteran Kornel Nemeth (HTS KTM) in third place also showed that he is a force to be reckoned with in the race. Born in Hungary but now resident in Passau, he has ridden in the ADAC MX Masters for many years and was runner-up in 2007 and 2009.
ADAC MX Youngster Cup
Boris Maillard (Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil) was impressive in the qualifying rounds of the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, posting the fastest time of 1:48.119 minutes. "I like the track and had fun riding. Perhaps it was feeling relaxed that helped me to a good time," said Maillard. The French youngster, who now has first choice of a starting place on Sunday, intends to take the shortest route. "I will definitely take the inside as my strategy," said the Kawasaki rider. Spaniard Jorge Zaragoza (Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe) will start in second place. Cabal George (Rumania/Kosack Racing Team) will be third in the starting line-up on his KTM. Championship leader Lars Reuther (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) who lives not too far from the track secured fourth fastest time in qualifying and so takes fourth place in the race starting line-up.
ADAC MX Junior Cup
Danish rider Glen Meier (Kosak Racing Team) continued his good form from the recent ADAC MX Junior Cup races and secured first place in qualifying at Gaildorf. He left behind Czech rider Jakub Teresak (Mefo Sport Racing Team, KTM) and the Finn Kim Savaste (KTM Motorsport Finland). Meier, who is at the top of the standings, would prefer to start from a place in the middle of the field. "That would help me get through the narrow first turn better," said the 14-year-old. At the moment, the young rider is fighting not only against strong competition on the track but has also to contend with his change in size on his KTM: "I´ve grown about seven centimetres since the beginning of the season. Jumping has become more difficult as a result, but I´m better able to get the bike´s power down on the track when running through the turns."
Programme
As is traditional every year, MSC Gaildorf is again providing a very varied support programme. In addition to top-class motocross, there will also be live music in the marquee during the evening with cover bands Revolution and Highlights. By day, spectators can visit a fan zone with motocross stalls and a presentation stand featuring the ADAC speedboat with cups. Younger visitors can use the ADAC Young Generation Suzuki quad track and the ADAC Insurance bouncy castle. On Sunday, Matthias Dolderer will present his Red Bull Air Race Show and top riders will be signing autographs at 12.15pm. Entrance on Sunday costs 18 euros.
