Ullrich cashes in, winning prizes in each special : Red Bull Holeshot Award as consolation prize for unlucky Reuther

This year's ADAC MX Masters season was not for the faint-hearted. 12,300 spectators came along to the final race weekend in the small town of Holzgerlingen near Stuttgart, keeping their fingers firmly crossed as their favourites headed for a nail-biting finish at the Schützenbühlring. And their support was absolutely crucial, because the top drivers in each of the three classes were still battling hard for vital points towards championship wins until just before the chequered flag. In the end, 20-year-old ADAC MX Masters rider Dennis Ullrich from Saarlouis (KTM Sarholz Racing Team), Frenchman Boris Maillard ( Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil ), who stood out in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup and ADAC MX Junior Cup rider Glen Meier from Denmark (Kosack Racing Team, KTM) could count themselves among the fortunate few.

These three motocross riders were not the only ones who had good reason to celebrate in Holzgerlingen. The announcement of the special classification results was also greeted with cheers in the paddock. Blessed with top riders in their stable, including Dennis Ullrich and Sébastien Pourcel, KTM Sarholz Racing have some veritable human dynamos on side, and so, moved to the top of the team standings thanks to the overall success of their riders in all three classes. Having amassed a total of 876 points, KTM Sarholz Racing took first place from Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe and Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil and received a bonus prize of 1,000 euros in addition to the challenge trophy. KTM also led in the manufacturers' championship. KTM finished on 353 points, 18 points up on Honda and 67 points ahead of Kawasaki. In the privateers' standings, Chris Gundermann was rewarded for his performance. Gundermann achieved a total of 262 points during the season, taking the win from fellow competitors Michael Kartenberg and Enrico Jache. His prize money - 950 euros.

The start and qualifying in the ADAC MX Masters also earned special prizes. The Red Bull Holeshot Award was presented by Red Bull to the rider who was fastest through the first turn, the winner receiving two VIP tickets to a Nitro Circus show to include an overnight stay for two people, plus, a custom-made Red Bull fridge that will be restocked throughout the year. Dennis Ullrich emerged as the winner. Ulle was best at achieving the fastest get-away in the ADAC MX Masters class. Lars Reuther from nearby Pleidelsheim (KTM Sarholz Racing Team), whose dreams of winning the championship title evaporated after his retirement in Jauer, took the prize in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup category, giving him something to cheer about. Spaniard Jorge Prado (KTM Factory Red Bull) won the Red Bull Holeshot Award in the ADAC MX Junior Cup class.

The end result in the special prize for qualifying reflected the positions in the overall championship standings. Dennis Ullrich was best qualifier in the ADAC MX Masters, Boris Maillard took the honours in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup category and Glen Meier was the best of the juniors in this discipline. Motorcycle hi-tech components manufacturer SAXESS - Cross the Limits rewarded the winners with a complete set of new wheels.

Yet another special category featured in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. In this class for those under 21, riders of less powerful two-stroke motorcycles have their own standings. In 2013, Dutch rider Calvin Vlaanderen (KTM Bodo Schmidt Motorsport) on 440 points had a clear lead on Henry Jacobi from Germany (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) and on Brian Hsu, also from Germany (Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe).

In all, a total of 230,000 euros in prize money was shared out among the ADAC MX Masters riders competing in the various classes in the 2013 season.
