Spectators at the track in Gaildorf enjoyed thrilling ADAC MX Masters action. Riders battled for vital points on the grand-prix circuit, as, after six of eight weekend fixtures, the title is about to be decided along with the winners of 230,000 euros prize money. The leading group became even more tightly bunched in Gaildorf. Championship leader Dennis Ullrich (Germany/KTM Sarholz Racing Team, 199 points) felt the full force of world championship driver Sébastian Pourcel's attack (France/KTM Sarholz Racing Team, 186 points). The two are only separated by 13 points. Ullrich: "Even if the weekend did not go brilliantly well, I've shown this season that I can ride consistently at a high level. It's my dream to lift the championship title, and I intend to realise that dream," said Ullrich, looking ahead optimistically to the remaining heats. Ullrich finished in the points in all twelve rounds of the ADAC MX Masters that also counts as the international German motocross championship.
The 14,300 spectators who visited the fixture over the weekend were totally thrilled with the high-class racing on offer. Swiss rider Jeremy Seewer (Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe) had the best showing, securing victory on the day in the ADAC MX Masters class for the first time in his career. He consigned Pourcel and Ullrich to positions two and three respectively after the results of the two races had been aggregated. ADAC motor cycling consultant Dieter Junge was very pleased with the event that featured the three classes: ADAC MX Masters, ADAC MX Youngster Cup and ADAC MX Junior Cup: "It's fascinating to see how far the historic Gaildorf track has come. The club has not rested on its laurels but has moved with the times and still has its finger on the pulse even after staging fifty top motocross events."
ADAC MX Youngster Cup
Racing Sunday began with some bad luck for Lars Reuther (KTM Sarholz Racing Team). The championship leader injured his lower leg whilst warming up for the ADAC MX Youngster Cup and was unable to start in the first race. He was in third place for a while in the second race but finally took the chequered flag in P34. Consequently, the 20-year-old lost his lead in the overall standings, slipping down to second place. "I tried everything, but nothing worked. Of course, I'm incredibly disappointed not to be in the lead, but there are still four races left in which 100 points are up for grabs. I intend to win ultimately," said Reuther. French rider Boris Maillard (Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil) gained from Reuther's poor showing, winning vital scraps in the race and taking a first and a second place in the daily classification. Behind him, Jorge Zaragoza (Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe) fought his way into second place, beating off Sulivan Jaulin (Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil). In the overall classification, Maillard has 187 points, leading from Reuther on 175 points and Dominique Thury (Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil, 167).
ADAC MX Junior Cup
Front-runner Glen Meier (Kosak Racing Team) from Denmark had to face some stiff opposition in the ADAC MX Junior Cup from Spanish rider Jorge Prado (KTM Factory Red Bull), who has recently recovered from injury. Prado won Sunday's first race for 10 to 15-year-old riders, but Meier led the field in the second race, winning the 20-minute-long race and the daily classification. Meier: "Those were extremely important points. The title is now within reach. Many riders who later turned pro started out by winning the ADAC MX Junior Cup. It's a stepping stone to greater things. The 14-year-old extended his lead in the overall standings and now has 166 points as compared to the 153 points of his relentless pursuer Jakub Teresak (Czech Republic/Mefo Sport Racing Team) and Kim Savaste (Finland/KTM Motorsport Finland, 131 points).
The seventh ADAC MX Masters weekend from a total of eight will be staged from the 14th to the 15th of September in the East German town of Jauer. All three classes - ADAC MX Masters, ADAC MX Youngster Cup and ADAC MX Junior Cup - are to be contested.
