ADAC MX Masters riders nominate favourite tracks: I know every grain of sand there by name

Glen Meier (age 15, ADAC MX Youngster Cup)

"My personal favourite is at Saint-Jean-d'Angély near La Rochelle in western France. Although I've only been there once - that was for the EMX 125 - it's a track that impressed itself on my memory. There are a lot of rises and dips, the surface provides good grip, and there are a number of technical challenges. The track characteristics are actually fairly similar to Gaildorf. Anyway, I instantly felt at my ease there, which gave me confidence going into the race."

Jorge Zaragoza (age 18, ADAC MX Youngster Cup)

"Most of all, I like riding at Sevlievo in Bulgaria. It has a hard-packed surface that is reminiscent of Teutschenthal. I've competed at the Bulgarian international track on three or four European Championship weekends and have achieved good results on each occasion. This has obviously given me a huge motivational boost every time, so that I associate this particular venue with happy memories."

Kevin Wouts (age 24, ADAC MX Masters)

"The training track at Naours in northern France is the only one where I would be happy to ride all day from morning to evening. The track itself doesn't count as anything too special, but it provides perfect conditions for me, namely a hard surface with plenty of decent high jumps. I train there about five or six times a year because it's fun, but also to unwind and take my mind off things."

Michael Kartenberg (age 24, ADAC MX Masters)

"I used to like the training track at Wittenmoor best. There were always a lot of professionals practising there, and they would give you some really useful tips. The track was in a gravel pit and not only had a nice flow but was also a very smooth ride. Unfortunately, it's now been closed to motocross, as a motorway extension is being built through it. That's why I currently take my bike to Magdeburg or to my home track of Dolle nearby. I grew up in Dolle, so I always feel at home there. The Magdeburg circuit has some great jumps, and with the surface having a rippled effect, it gives excellent grip and is ideal for training on."

Marcus Schiffer (age 27, ADAC MX Masters)

"I actually have two tracks I really enjoy riding on. One is the sandy circuit at Grevenbroich. This is where I grew up and used to spend most of my spare time. I know every grain of sand there by name, and I am totally familiar with the surface characteristics. The best time for training at Grevenbroich is the winter, because the sandy soil doesn't freeze and always offers perfect conditions, providing it's not too wet. The other track where you're likely to bump into me is the one at Vosswinkel. This hard-surface track has been laid out in such a way that not only professionals but also amateurs can ride here with confidence, which always generates a pleasant atmosphere. Vosswinkel is all the more useful for practice because it is such a long circuit and the minimum lap time is around the 2:20 minute mark. That is excellent for improving fitness and stamina."

Nicolai Hansen (age 28, ADAC MX Masters)

"I like the tracks at Teutschenthal and Gaildorf best. Both are churned up natural surfaces that are not too hard, which makes them perfect for my riding style. They have plenty of jumps, lots of grip and soft lines, which is why I'm always happy to visit these two German circuits. In addition, I competed in a Grand Prix race at Teutschenthal which went very well for me. That was a highly memorable experience."
