There is a certain amount of tension building among riders in the run-up to the ADAC MX Masters fixture to be staged in Tensfeld, Schleswig-Holstein, on the weekend of the 19th and 20th July, 2014. The reason is the nature of MCE Tensfeld's 1,700-metre track in Schleswig-Holstein. In contrast to the fine sand of Fürstlich Drehna, riders at the North German racing circuit near Plön have to contend with a deep sandy soil mixed with small pebbles that makes things even trickier. Local rider Davide von Zitzewitz (Bvz Racing Team), Marcus Schiffer (Team Suzuki Waldmann), who is placed third in the rankings, last year's winner at Tensfeld Angus Heidecke (Kalli-Racing Team, KTM), Dutchman Marc de Reuver (BT Motorsport, Honda) and the Belgian contingent have the best chances of winning, as they are the best motocross specialists on sand. Ace rider von Zitzewitz from Karlshof in East Holstein aims to benefit from his home advantage: "I train regularly on sand and so am fit and extremely well prepared," said the 22-year-old.
The exciting battle for the title continues at the top of the standings. Current champion Dennis Ullrich (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) as well as his two main rivals Pascal Rauchenecker (Cofain Racing Team) and Marcus Schiffer are all hot contenders for victory overall. All three are currently involved in a close, neck-and-neck race for top positions - just 15 points separate first and third place. In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, it is mainly Danish rider Thomas Kjer Olsen (STC Racing Honda) and the Dutchman Calvin Vlaanderen (KTM Bodo Schmidt Motorsports) who have made the running so far in ADAC MX Masters events. At the moment, Olsen heads the overall standings, but Vlaanderen is also on top form and intends to make up for points lost as a result of his fall in Aichwald. ADAC MX Junior Cup riders will be taking a break but are back in action at the Gaildorf race weekend. Instead, both in Tensfeld as well as at the ADAC MX Masters in Jauer that immediately follows, there will be a ladies' race, featuring local motocrossers and world championship stars from the ranks of the international elite of female competitors.
The ADAC MX Masters will again be providing a support programme with more exciting highlights for visitors to the event in addition to the sport to be enjoyed out on track. There will be an ADAC Young Generation Suzuki quad trail, the ADAC Insurance children's bouncy castle, plus a number of stalls for fans and stalls with items for sale. The paddock is open to everyone, and spectators are invited to exchange a few words with their idols, talk with team bosses and watch mechanics at work. In addition, three top FMX professionals, Kai Haase, Dennis Garhammer and Johannes Rehfuss, will keep the audience in suspense on Saturday and Sunday as they perform their spectacular stunts. The UPFORCE FMX crew will be appearing for the fourth time this year in Tensfeld and will also get the adrenaline pumping with their freestyle MX show. Children under ten are admitted free of charge to the ADAC MX Masters, while a weekend ticket costs seven euros for teenagers aged from ten to 15 years. Just 17 euros secures admittance to qualifying and race Sunday for adults. Tickets are also available on the day.
Highlights from the ADAC MX Masters will be broadcast at 4:35 pm on Motorvision TV on July 27th, one week after Tensfeld. Fans of Europe's most popular motocross series can relive the most exciting scenes and best moments from the event in a half-hour magazine piece complete with commentary.
