Double victory for Ullrich in the ADAC MX Masters : Henry Jacobi takes the lead in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup standings

Spectators at the ADAC MX Masters were treated to some spectacular motocross racing in Jauer. Saarlouis-based rider Dennis Ullrich (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) booked the top spot in the daily standings on Sunday. With a double victory in temperatures nudging 33 degrees celsius, the 20-year-old consigned Swiss rider Jeremy Seewer (Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe) and Frenchman Grégory Aranda (Kawasaki, Sturm Racing Team) to second and third place respectively. Riders participating in Europe´s most popular motocross series that bears the title of International German Championship Motocross had to tackle numerous jump combinations on the challenging Am Hahneberg track. "That was my best Masters weekend this season with two wins on a fantastic circuit. The many jumps pumped me so full of adrenaline that I was automatically fast," said Ullrich with a chuckle. The world championship rider has achieved six podiums in ten ADAC MX Masters races this season.

The races at the 1,710 metre track were not for the faint of heart. The 7,700 spectators watched the hard-fought battles for position with bated breath this weekend. In the second race particularly, Ullrich and Frenchman Sébastien Pourcel (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) had an exciting scrap in which the leadership twice changed hands. In the end, Ullrich nosed in front. Seewer was satisfied with his second place in the days rankings: "I knew it would be tough. My starts were good and I was able to work my way forwards in the race. Now I´m actually fourth in the overall standings." Current ADAC MX Masters champion Ullrich leads with 202 points. Marcus Schiffer (GER / Team Suzuki Waldmann) follows behind him on 171 points. Pascal Rauchenecker (AUT / HSV Ried, Cofein Racing KTM, 153 points) is placed third ahead of Seewer (145 points). Pourcel did not finish one of the races after a fall. Fortunately, the rider did not suffer any physical injury, but the 29-year-old lost vital points as a result and is now ranked fifth in the championship (129 points).

Local rider Dominique Thury (Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil) from nearby Bad Schlema booked an excellent fifth place in the daily standings. The 21-year-old is contesting his first season in the ADAC MX Masters. Thury was still competing in the junior ADAC MX Youngster Cup class last year.

ADAC MX Youngster Cup

This was 17-year-old Henry Jacobi´s (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) weekend. The rider from Bad Sulza won both ADAC MX Youngster Cup races in Jauer and took victory on the day from Poland´s Tomasz Wysocki (KTM) and Danish rider Thomas Kjer Olsen (STC Racing). This fourth race win for Jacobi, who has received support from the ADAC Sports Foundation for the past three years, took him to the top of the standings. "I´m enormously pleased, but I´m just really tired because of the heat. I had two decent starts, after which I was second and fourth. I was then able to pace myself in the races and, of course, a double win is great," said Jacobi. The KTM rider heads the standings on 174 points, behind him, tying for points is Kjer Olsen, who has yet to win a race. 18-year-old Dutchman Calvin Vlaanderen (KTM Bodo Schmidt Motorsports) on 169 points slipped down from the top spot to third place.

Ladies´ Race

Two races in the women´s class were also staged at Jauer. Larissa Papenmeier-Picoto (Twenty suspension Suzuki) dominated the field of 21 participants on the challenging track. The 24-year-old world cup rider won both races by a good margin to secure victory on the day. "It has been really great to ride here in Jauer. Best in qualifying, two hole shots, two wins – it´s been a terrific weekend for me. It´s a long time since I´ve had to sign so many autographs," said the motocrosser, summing up her race. Anne Borchers (Suzuki, HuK Motorsport) from Eastern Germany was also satisfied with her second place. Borchers, who also normally competes in the Women´s World Cup said: "The track was well prepared and my races went well. The backdrop to the ADAC MX Masters is simply terrific." Maria Franke (Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil), also from Eastern Germany, finished third.

The international ADAC MX Masters motocross stars will line up at Gaildorf in Baden-Württemberg on the weekend of August 23rd-24th. Local rider Maik Schaller (KTM Kosak Racing) is already looking forward to the races at his home track, "My best races so far have all been at Gaildorf, as the track is very similar to the Supercross. There are many bumpy sections, lots of double jumps and it´s technically very demanding. Such conditions actually suit me down to the ground," said the 22-year-old. Last year, more than 14,000 spectators came to the Auf der Wacht natural terrain track, on which four-time ADAC MX Masters winner and MX superstar Ken Roczen (Red Bull KTM rider) won his first world championship title in 2011.
