Components have to be regularly and meticulously maintained in order to get the best out of the bike. However, some riders put stickers that have a special significance on their motorcycles in an effort to bring them a bit of luck or to highlight a particular point. Let's consider ADAC MX Masters rider Christian Brockel by way of example. The 30-year-old has had a special number plate made for his bike, displaying his start number, 71, along with the skyline of Berlin, the home town of his team, GST Berlin. "It's just for a bit of fun and to show how I feel about my local area. This particular plate is individual to me and really suits me. Many people find the idea amusing and react positively to it, which then always makes me feel pleased," said the KTM rider.
The two ADAC MX Youngster Cup riders Tomasz Wysocki and Nico Müller, plus ADAC MX Junior Cup rider Twan van Essen are never without the decals that relate to their respective top sponsors. For years, Polish rider Wysocki has been sponsored by the Polish company Betpol, so the company's decal has become a kind of good luck charm for him. "Betpol supported me both financially and mentally. They made it possible for me to compete against other MX stars in the world of motocross, which spurs me on in every race," said the 20-year-old. The same applies to van Essen. Since 2007, the Dutchman has been sponsored with bikes and associated accessories by André Motors. "The guys from André Motors have been very understanding, and I feel extremely fortunate to have the support of such a company, as participation in the Masters means an awful lot to me," said the 13-year-old. Nico Müller even has two decals that he is never without on track. The 15-year-old always has Castrol and 416 Performance stickers on his machine. "Castrol have been my main sponsor for two years. But for them, I would not be here. 416 Performance, for their part, help me with tips about developing proper training plans and give me advice on how to improve my driving style," said the MX class two star.
For Masters rider Jeffrey Meurs and Youngster Cup competitor Mike te Beest, their special stickers have an emotional element. "The lad next door, Donny Zondorf, had a fatal accident on his motorbike aged 13. I want to show him respect and honour him as my friend by displaying this sticker with his start number," said the 24-year-old Dutchman, adding: "Many motocross riders from my region, Rotterdam, have these stickers on their bikes, which makes his parents especially proud and proves to them once more how popular their son was in the motocross scene." In te Beest's case, it's his 15-year-old friend and neighbour, Mischa Kuit, who lost his life in a motocross accident at the end of May 2014. For te Beest, riding without the sticker would be unthinkable, because by displaying it, he too wants to honour the boy who passed away just recently. "Mischa was a good buddy of mine and, of course, I miss him, so the sticker with his race number on my number plate is very important to me," said the Dutchman.
