Local rider Thury aiming for Top Ten in Jauer : Girl power in ladies' motocross race

The fifth of eight ADAC MX Masters events on the weekend of August 9th-10th in Jauer in Saxony is a real must for all riders who love taking the jumps. The 1,700 metre Am Hahneberg track belonging to MC Jauer e.V. is certainly a challenge for the motocross stars, having 24 table top jumps in total and one that is almost 30 metres long. Two-time ADAC MX Masters winner Max Nagl (HRC Honda) secured victory on the day last year, but current race series champion Dennis Ullrich (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) intends to finish on the top rung of the podium in 2014. The 20-year-old Masters rider from Saarlouis told us: "This season has been very good to me so far. I lead the rankings and will do everything in my power to retain pole position." However, he has a lead of only eight points on his main rival, Pascal Rauchenecker from Austria (Cofain Racing Team), and is just nine points up on Marcus Schiffer (Team Suzuki Waldmann). Consequently, the fight for top positions has developed into a real thriller that will turn the weekend into a nerve-jangling event for spectators and also for the riders themselves.

Local rider Dominique Thury (Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil) can hardly wait for the ADAC MX Masters to get under way in Panschwitz-Kuckau northeast of Dresden. The 21-year-old comes from nearby Bad Schlema and learned to jump on MC Jauer's sticky clay track. "I think I've got a major advantage compared to my fellow competitors, because I've trained regularly here on this track in the past and know it very well, which will stand me in good stead. I aim to make it at least into the Top Ten," said Thury, who was still competing in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup in 2013.

High-flyer Calvin Vlaanderen (KTM Bodo Schmidt Motorsports), who has dual Dutch and South African citizenship currently leads overall in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup standings. The 18-year-old was rewarded with victory on the day at the last ADAC MX Masters event in Tensfeld in Schleswig-Holstein, taking the top spot from Danish rider Thomas Kjer Olsen (STC Racing, Honda). However, the class two rider will have to make a real effort to avoid being caught at the Am Hahneberg track, because he has two more strong rivals in addition to Olsen, namely, fellow Dane Luca Nuijenhuis (MX Promotion / Gebben Racing Kawasaki), who was hot on his heels last time out in Tensfeld, and Spaniard Jorge Zaragoza (Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil), who achieved victory on the day at Jauer in 2013. Another ladies' fixture will replace the ADAC MX Junior Cup at the race weekend in Saxony where world championship riders will once again go up against local riders in this class.

Apart from the motorcycle action out on track, the ADAC Young Generation Suzuki Quad track and the ADAC Insurance children's bouncy castle will again form part of the comprehensive programme at the event. In addition, spectators can enjoy a number of stalls for fans and stalls selling things. The paddock is open to one and all, and anyone can come along and have a chat with their idols or exchange a few words with team managers and watch the mechanics at work. Admission to the ADAC MX Masters in Jauer is free for children under twelve years, while a weekend ticket will cost teenagers aged from 13 to 17 years ten euros. Just 18 euros secures entry to qualifying and race Sunday for adults. Day tickets are also available.
