Dirt, mud, and rain. Last year's ADAC MX Masters event in Reutlingen will probably be remembered for quite some time. The track at the sports park was under water and neither riders nor spectators remained dry that day. The photo of the ADAC MX Youngster Cup rider Ron Noffz taken at the time perfectly reflects the scene after the races and says more than words can ever express, which is precisely why photographer Steve Bauerschmidt's shot was chosen as Kicker magazine's photo of the year.

Steve has been busy as race photographer at the series for the past eight years, accompanying riders both on the track and in private moments with his camera. He himself is a keen rider and therefore spends a lot of time in the motocross scene. He particularly enjoys following the development of riders competing in the ADAC MX Masters: "It's exciting to keep track of the careers of certain riders and record their, sometimes, very emotional moments in photos. And because I not only love this sport but live it, for me, it's not just a question of taking simple photos but of photographing evocative images of a spectacular event," said Steve. The professional photographer succeeded in capturing a really lucky shot of Ron Noffz, because only rarely can one single image tell so many stories.
