Schiffer aiming to become championship runner-up: Close-fought title battle in ADAC MX Youngster Cup

The last of eight ADAC MX Masters events in Teutschenthal promises to deliver plenty of action, especially in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. Top contenders for overall victory in Europe's most popular motocross racing series include current championship leader Thomas Kjer Olsen from Denmark (Yamaha Motor Germany, AC Motec by STC), Dutch rider Calvin Vlaanderen (KTM Bodo Schmidt Motorsports) and Henry Jacobi from Bad Sulza (Sarholz KTM Racing Team). The three riders are separated by only seven points. During the last two race weekends at Gaildorf and Holzgerlingen in Baden-Württemberg, the title favourites decided the wins between themselves in the daily standings. However, 50 points are on the table at the final ADAC MX Masters event to be staged on Teutschenthal's 1.635 km natural terrain track.

In the midst of the exciting motocross thriller of a finale developing in class two, local boy Leon Ast (Yamaha rider) from Blankenburg is also keen to prove his skill at his home track. The 16-year-old has been intent primarily on gaining experience this year. "So far, I've never been able to qualify directly for the race on Sunday but certainly hope I can do so in front of my friends, girlfriend Elisa and my family," said Ast.

The winner of the ADAC MX Masters trophy was decided at the last event in Holzgerlingen (September 6th-7th). Current champion Dennis Ullrich (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) successfully defended his title this season and was again crowned winner of the series at the Schützenbühlring, the home track of his club, KfV Kalteneck eV. However, the battle for second place is not quite over. At the moment, it looks like two-time ADAC MX Masters winner Marcus Schiffer (Team Suzuki Waldmann) will make the running, but Austrian Pascal Rauchenecker (A / Cofain Racing KTM) in third-place still has a chance on paper of finishing runner-up, although the two are separated by 48 points.

Danish high-flyer Mikkel Haarup (MEFO Sport Racing Team, KTM) is currently dominating proceedings in the ADAC MX Junior Cup. Having had a strong season to date, the 13-year-old has a lead of 37 points on main rival Jeremy Sydow from Chemnitz (Falcon Motorsports / ADAC Sachsen). Excluding Gaildorf, Haarup has so far finished among the overall winners on the podium at every ADAC MX Junior Cup fixture. The KTM rider took victory on the day at Ried in Austria. As leader in the standings, he wants his just reward in Teutschenthal for his consistent performance and therefore has only one aim in mind - to clinch the class three championship.

In addition to events in the ADAC MX Masters on Friday (19/09/14), Dennis Ullrich, Marcus Schiffer and Max Nagl (KMP Racing Repsol Honda) will put on a show training session before qualifying. The three ADAC MX Masters riders will represent Team Germany in 2014 at the prestigious motocross world team championships, the FIM Motocross of Nations. For the first time this year, they will come together at Teutschental's 'basins' to prepare for the highlight event in the Baltic on the weekend of September 27th-28th. Motorcycle enthusiasts and journalists are invited to the track at 16:30 to watch the German team and take pictures. The riders will meet with media representatives to take questions at a press conference to be held one hour earlier, at 15:30. Special accreditation is not required.

Apart from the racing action out on track, there will again be an extensive programme on offer at the ADAC MX Masters in Teutschenthal, featuring the ADAC Young Generation Suzuki Quad track and the ADAC Insurance kid's bouncy castle. A number of stalls for fans and stands with things for sale will also be set up in the grounds at the basins. The paddock is open to everyone, and fans are invited to chat with their idols, talk to team managers and observe the mechanics at work. Admission to the ADAC MX Masters in Saxony-Anhalt is free for children under ten, while entrance for youngsters over ten but under 15 costs twelve euros. A weekend ticket for adults is priced at 17 euros. Day tickets are also available.
