Impressive season: 2015 Champion Glenn Coldenhoff: Suzuki factory rider Glenn Coldenhoff crowned International German Motocross Champion

The world championship rider from Heesch (province of North Brabant) was crowned champion in Europe’s most popular motocross series with a points total of 314. He clinched the title at the penultimate race meeting at Lichtenvoorde in the Netherlands where he took victory on the day and won the championship title ahead of time in his home race.

Coldenhoff demonstrated his strength right at the start of the season during the opening round in Fürstlich-Drehna by slotting into second place behind two-time ADAC MX Masters champion Max Nagl (28/Red Bull Iceone Husqvarna Factory Racing). Coldenhoff finished second in the daily standings in all of the races that followed in Jauer, Bielstein, Aichwald and Tensfeld. This consistency gave him the overall lead from Jauer onwards. He won both races in Lichtenvoorde, securing victory on the day and the coveted title of International German Motocross Champion. “Winning the championship ahead of time in my home race felt really great. My family, girlfriend and friends had all come along to cheer me on. Celebrating not just the win in the daily standings but also victory in the series was amazing. I began the season with the intention of winning the German championship, because I’d decided not to contest the Dutch championship this year. I secured four wins this season and ultimately realised my plan, which makes me very proud,” said the 24-year-old, expressing his delight during victory celebrations at the final weekend in Gaildorf.

However, racing is still top of the agenda for the newly crowned ADAC MX Masters champion. “There are another two championship races remaining on the calendar, and I intend to achieve a good finish,” said the rider with start number 259, who is currently ranked eighth in the world. What ‘The Hoff’, as he is known to fans, will be doing next year has now also recently become clear. Just last week, Coldenhoff signed a contract with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team.

Success came to Coldenhoff at an early stage when he won the 85cc Dutch championship at the age of 13. He subsequently took part in European championship races and lined up in the ADAC MX Junior Cup before contesting the MX2 World Championship in 2011. The former KTM rider was rewarded with fifth place in the overall standings in 2013. Coldenhoff joined the elite class of world championship riders this year and showed with an impressive victory on the day in Kegums in Latvia that he is a force to be reckoned with. His team-mate next year will be the eight-time world champion Antonio Cairoli MX (29) from Italy.
