Seewer celebrates ADAC MX Masters victory: High-calibre showdown between Suzuki works riders Seewer and Coldenhoff

Switzerland's Jeremy Seewer (Team Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe) came out on top in Sunday's two ADAC MX Masters motos at the Bielsteiner Waldkurs circuit, 45km east of Cologne. The Suzuki works rider and runner-up in the 2013 European 250cc Championship claimed victory ahead of Dutch team-mate Glenn Coldenhoff (24) on the historic 1,800-metre track operated by MSC Drabenderhöhe-Bielstein. "That was a perfect weekend for me," said Seewer. "The track suited me and my 250cc machine just fine, and I saw the chequered flag first in both races. It's a great feeling to shake off such strong competition."

In a motocross duel that could hardly have been more exciting, the 20-year-old was in top form in front of the 7,000 fans who turned up on Sunday. The crucial incident that decided the outcome came on the penultimate lap of the second race. As Seewer led the field, but under intense pressure from Coldenhoff, his pursuer then took a tumble. "I've had to settle for second place this weekend," said a rueful Coldenhoff, "but at least I was able to increase my championship lead. I'm not going to surrender first place any time soon." Someone else with a stake in the title chase is reigning ADAC MX Masters Champion Dennis Ullrich (21, Team Castrol Power1 Suzuki Moto-Base) who scored vital points with third place on the day. Coldenhoff consolidated his championship lead on 135 points. Some distance behind are Ullrich on 110 points and Seewer on 103.

ADAC MX Youngster Cup

The battle for supremacy in the starting field of riders in the 14 to 21 age bracket was won by ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Brian Hsu (Team Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe). With victory in both races, the 17-year-old emerged as clear winner on the day ahead of South Africa-born Nicholas Adams (18, GPR Promo MX Team). "I am really happy about my double victory," said the German-Taiwanese junior after crossing the finish line. "It wasn't easy, because Adams was applying a lot of pressure behind me. But I didn't let him get past." The third podium place went to Stefan Ekerold (19, Bodo Schmidt Motorsport) from Weiskirchen. "I wasn't prepared to let them shake me off, and I've scored some important points here today," said the 19-year-old. "There are still plenty of races left, and I will be attacking again." After this third race weekend of the season, there has been a change at the top of the Youngster Cup table. Hsu is the new leader on 136 points ahead of Ekerold on 100. Dropping down to third is Arminas Jasikonis (17, Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil) from Lithuania, who had to miss out on the Bielsteiner Waldkurs fixture due to injury and thus remains on 89 points.

Support class

Christian Herzberg of Bad Salzuflen picked up the day trophy in the DMV BRC MX 2-Takt Cup support series. A second place in Race 1 and a win in Race 2 were more than enough for him to successfully defend his championship lead: "I was relieved when I saw the chequered flag. This is an exceptionally demanding track, and I'm just pleased to have finished both races without making any mistakes." Second place went to Marco Hummel from Radolfzell and third to Marvin Heyner from Helsa.

The fourth race meeting of the ADAC MX Masters will take place on the weekend of 27th/28th June in Baden-Württemberg. MSC Eiserne Hand in Aichwald will be hosting the European motocross elite as they compete in the ADAC MX Masters class, the ADAC MX Youngster Cup and the ADAC MX Junior Cup.
