ADAC MX Masters·7.9.2015

Watson winner as Ullrich takes 2015 runner-up spot: 2015 ADAC MX Masters Champion: Glenn Coldenhoff

In the grand finale to the 2015 ADAC MX Masters at Gaildorf in Baden-Württemberg, victory went to Nathan Watson (Red Bull Iceone Husqvarna Factory Racing) from England. On the 1,650-metre Auf der Wacht track belonging to MSC Gaildorf, the world championship rider picked up the Sunday trophy in Europe's most popular Motocross series watched by 15,700 spectators. "After finishing second on the previous race weekend at Lichtenvoorde in the Netherlands, I'm pleased to have capped that by ending the ADAC MX Masters season as overall winner this time," said the 21-year-old. "It's a great feeling to come out on top here, because the standard of competition in the series is very high." Second place went to Switzerland's Jeremy Seewer (21, Team Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe) and third to Dennis Ullrich (21, Team Castrol Power1 Suzuki Moto-Base) of Kämpfelbach in Germany.

The suspense going into the final race of the 2015 campaign could hardly have been greater. Ullrich and Seewer were on level pegging at 260 points each and were both equally determined to claim the runner-up spot in the championship. Former ADAC MX Masters champion (2013 and 2014) Ullrich ultimately prevailed over his Swiss opponent. "After the title chase came to a premature end, the battle for second place turned into an all or nothing affair," beamed Ulle, as he is affectionately known by his fans. "I fought right up to the end and was so relieved when I crossed the finish line. Seewer was always right behind me - I could see that. But it worked out in the end." Another contestant with cause for satisfaction was Max Nagl (28, Red Bull Iceone Husqvarna Factory Racing) from Weilheim, who finished his comeback weekend in seventh place. "Unfortunately, my rear brake was defective in the first run, so I had virtually no chance. But in Race 2, I was able to return to my best form." Nagl regards the ADAC MX Masters as a perfect training opportunity for the remaining world championship races to be contested overseas.

ADAC MX Youngster Cup

Brian Hsu (17, Team Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe) from Freiburg had already been crowned champion in the class for youngsters in the 15-to-21 age bracket on the penultimate race weekend in Lichtenvoorde. The ADAC Sports Foundation protégé, who recently won the World and European 125cc Junior title, more than lived up to his billing as the favourite by winning the Sunday trophy. "After this last race of the season, I really feel like a champion. The emotions are overwhelming, and I've only now realised that I am the new title holder. I am pleased that I was able to show what I'm capable of with this victory." Hsu beat second-placed Arminas Jasikonis (17, Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil) from Lithuania and Belgium's Nathan Renkens (17, WZ Racing, KTM) in third place. The result signalled a change on the championship podium: joining Hsu and Nicholas Adams (18, Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil) from England in the final Top Three was Jasikonis who thereby demoted Stefan Ekerold from Weiskirchen to fourth. "I wasn't expecting that," said Jasikonis. "I had already written off my chances of a championship podium after being out of contention for so long due to injury. That makes it all the more satisfying to be holding up this trophy now."

ADAC MX Junior Cup

The winner of the class for the youngest riders in the season finale was Jeremy Sydow (15, Falcon Motorsports, KTM) from Chemnitz. The ADAC Sports Foundation protégé won both races to claim a clear victory on the day and be crowned this year's ADAC MX Junior Cup Champion. The title was wrapped up after the first of the two motos when his unassailable points tally allowed him to celebrate early. "I cannot put into words how happy I am," said the 15-year-old who is also the reigning German Motocross 85cc champion. "I didn't dare to dream of such an outcome at the beginning of the season, but when I found that I was steadily improving my speed, I went flat out to win the title. Now, that's come true." Second on the day was Dutch junior Rick Elzinga (13, Beursfoon KTM Youth Team) ahead of René Hofer (13, MSC Imbach / KINI KTM Junior Team Pro) from Austria. Czech rider Petr Polak (14, MEFO Sport Racing Team) narrowly missed out on the Sunday podium but still managed to finish the season as runner-up on the basis of points scored over the campaign. Third place in the championship went to Hofer, who was visibly delighted at the trophy presentation. Long tipped as favourite to retain his ADAC MX Junior Cup title from last year, Mikkel Haarup (13, KTM Kosak Racing Team) from Denmark finished fourth. He was absent from the final weekend due to injury.

Motocross of Nations

Now that the ADAC MX Masters has come to an end for another year, the German motocross world will be focusing its attention on the weekend of 26th/27th September. For the 69th time, teams representing many different countries will be competing for the coveted title of World Champions in the FIM Motocross of Nations to be held in Ernée, France. The Team Germany squad consists of Max Nagl, Dennis Ullrich and Henry Jacobi, all three of whom have enjoyed considerable success in the ADAC MX Masters and for whom the event constitutes the crowning glory of 2015. By finishing fifth at Kegums (Latvia), the German trio proved last year that they are among the best teams in the world. Their minimum target for this year's competition on the twisty hillside track in Ernée is a place among the Top Five.
