World championship rider Strijbos wins in style: All change at the top, as Coldenhoff takes championship lead

Sunday´s motocross competition at Jauer in Saxony turned out to be a triumph for world championship contestant Kevin Strijbos (Team Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MXGP). The second of the eight weekends on the 2015 ADAC MX Masters calendar was hosted by the MC Jauer club on its 1,650-metre clay circuit which goes by the name of Am Hahneberg. The winner on the day demonstrated his skills in front of 8,500 enthusiastic and knowledgeable MX fans. "I am thrilled to have made this great comeback in the ADAC MX Masters series," said the 29-year-old Belgian, who won the ADAC MX Junior Cup when he was just 14. "Against an exceptionally strong line-up of opponents, I´ve finished top of the standings today."

The overall winner on the day is decided by the aggregate results from both races. Sharing the podium with Strijbos were runner-up Glenn Coldenhoff (24, Team Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe) from the Netherlands and Germany´s Dennis Ullrich (21, Team Castrol Power1 Suzuki Moto-Base) in third place. The reigning ADAC MX Masters Champion (2013 and 2014) from Saarlouis expressed satisfaction with his performance: "I´ve got up to speed for the season at last. It´s a good feeling to share the podium with those two world championship riders, Strijbos and Coldenhoff. I´ll be well pleased if it carries on this way." The outcome means a change at the top of the championship standings. Previous leader Max Nagl, who had a clash of dates in his diary and was unable to compete at Jauer, drops down to eighth position on 47 points, leaving the way clear for Coldenhoff to take over at the top of the table in Europe´s most popular motocross series on a points total of 91. Meanwhile, Ullrich moves into second place on 70 points ahead of Christian Brockel (KTM GST Berlin Racing) on 60.

ADAC MX Youngster Cup

ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Brian Hsu (Team Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe) dominated proceedings in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. The 16-year-old of German-Taiwanese extraction won both races in the class for 14 to 21-year-old riders to lead the Sunday standings ahead of Arminas Jasikonis (17, Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil) from Lithuania and Liechtenstein´s Luca Bruggmann (20, Team Yamaha Racing STC). "My bike and I delivered a strong performance today," said Hsu who hails from Freiburg. "I completed both races without making a single error and scored valuable championship points." Sunday´s two race wins elevate Hsu into second place in the Youngster Cup standings. His 86 points put him within touching distance of Jasikonis on 89. In third place is Stefan Ekerold (19, Bodo Schmidt Motorsport) from Weiskirchen on 60 points.

ADAC MX Junior Cup

In the ADAC MX Junior Cup – the junior class for riders aged ten to 15 years – Mikkel Haarup (KTM Kosak Racing Team) had real cause for satisfaction: the 13-year-old won both races and secured overall victory on the day. "I go into every race with one objective only – to see the chequered flag before anyone else," said the Danish titleholder. "To have picked up the trophy for overall winner today fills me and my parents with a lot of pride – they have travelled all the way to Jauer to see me compete here today." Local favourite Jeremy Sydow (14, KTM Sarholz Racing Team) from Chemnitz was well pleased with second place: "Things went really well for me in front of my home crowd. I quickly found my rhythm." Taking the third podium spot was Petr Polak (14, Mefo Sport Racing Team) from the Czech Republic. Haarup thus consolidates his lead in the overall standings on 97 points, followed by Sydow on 80 and Dutch junior Rick Elzinga (14, Beursfoon KTM Youth Team) on 72.

The next race weekend of the 2015 ADAC MX Masters campaign (6th/7th June) will be held at the Bielsteiner Waldkurs in the Bergisch Land region, some 45 kilometres to the east of Cologne. The host club, MSC Drabenderhöhe-Bielstein, is making its ADAC MX Masters organisational debut. The 1,815-metre track is one of the oldest established motocross tracks in Germany. Bielstein will be staging only two of the competition classes: the ADAC MX Masters and the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. The ADAC MX Junior Cup will miss out on the occasion.
