The dates have been set, the prize money has been fixed, and the motocross teams have regrouped. Let the 2016 ADAC MX Masters season begin! Since the opening of online registration on December 1st, 2015, around 350 riders from more than 20 countries have so far registered as regular starters at the seven race weekends to be contested in Europe's most popular motocross racing series. The official closing date is February 12th, 2016. By that date, all participants must have registered online at www.adac.de/mx-masters and have submitted all original documents to the ADAC. Riders from outside of Germany's borders who are unable to attend all the meetings can enrol up to two weeks prior to the race weekend. Wild-card riders who are given the chance by their local organising club to go up against stars from the motocross scene at a race weekend in their area must register at least four weeks in advance. A regular place on the grid costs ADAC MX Masters and ADAC MX Youngster Cup riders 280 euros for the whole season, while ADAC MX Junior Cup riders pay forty euros less. Guest riders are charged 50 euros per race weekend.
MSC Fürstlich Drehna in the district of Dahme-Spreewald in Brandenburg will be the first club to organise an ADAC MX Masters event in 2016. The international motocross elite will meet there on the weekend of April 23rd-24th to kick off an action-packed 2016 two-wheel season. However, this first track in particular will immediately put many riders to the test, since the 1,650-metre Um den Mühlberg circuit consists of deep sand which is not easy to tackle. So, the adrenalin of riders in all three classes, ADAC MX Masters, ADAC MX Youngster Cup and ADAC MX Junior Cup will be pumping at full tilt right from the start, which means that spectators can look forward to some exciting racing at the season opener. Fürstlich Drehna is then followed by fixtures in Möggers / Austria, in Aichwald, Bielstein, Tensfeld, Gaildorf and Holzgerlingen.
Prize money for winners in the race series amounts to some 260,000 euros. Last year, Glenn Coldenhoff in the Masters class, Brian Hsu in the youngsters' category and Jeremy Sydow as a junior were rewarded for their wins. This year marks the twelfth season of the ADAC MX Masters. Every competitor will get another chance to prove themselves. The standard of riders is particularly high due to the mix of world championship riders, European championship stars and top motocross aces from many different countries.
During the time that the race series has been in existence, a few riders have already managed to clinch the title of International German Motocross Champion several times. Dennis Ullrich, Max Nagl, Ken Roczen and Marcus Schiffer have so far been some of the most successful ADAC MX Masters champions.
