This season's ADAC MX Masters could hardly be more exciting, as an unprecedented battle for the lead at the top of the standings is raging in all three classes. Two-time ADAC MX Masters champion Dennis Ullrich (22, KTM Sarholz Racing Team) is now keener than ever to see his name back in P1 overall on the leadership board after losing the top spot that he had previously held unchallenged to his rival and team-mate Harri Kullas from Finland (24, KTM Sarholz Racing Team) at the previous meeting in Tensfield in the north of Germany. The 22-year-old is reckoning with a podium at the next ADAC MX Masters meeting in Gaildorf in Germany´s south west (20th - 21st August). "I've set myself the goal of taking my third ADAC MX Masters title in 2016, and I will do everything I can to regain the top position. The Gaildorf track surface suits me better than Tensfeld, so I'll be back in my element," said the man from Bavaria bullishly ahead of the race.
However, 'Ulle' is by no means the only one itching to achieve a good result on the firm, demanding 1,650-metre track at Gaildorf, Auf der Wacht. World championship rider Harri Kullas has a six-point lead at the head of the table, while Dennis Ullrich is level on points with the Dane, Thomas Kjer Olsen (19, Bodo Schmidt Motorsports, Husqvarna). And Lithuanian rider, Arminas Jasikonis (18, Team Suzuki World MXGP), still has a chance of finishing on the podium in the overall rankings. He caused a stir recently at the ADAC MX Masters event in Northern Germany by taking a race win. The best German in the field last time out at Tensfeld was, by the way, Christian Brockel (32, KTM GST Berlin). He is keen to finish in the Top Five this season, and so, will be opening the throttle wide in a bid to overtake Dominique Thury (23, Falcon Motorsports, KTM), who is currently fifth. Some 245 riders from more than 27 different countries have entered to compete in the next ADAC MX Masters in Baden-Württemberg, including successful world championship rider Max Nagl (29, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team), who last took part in an ADAC MX Masters meeting at Aichwald, 11th - 12th June 2016). Swiss world championship rider Jeremy Seewer (22, Team Suzuki World MX2) will also line up in Gaildorf.
Competition in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup and ADAC MX Junior Cup is expected to be just as hot as among the 'Big Boys'. The current leader in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, Miro Sihvonen from Finland (17, Diga Junior Racing Team, KTM) and his main rival Bas Vaessen (18, NED, Team Suzuki World MX2) are separated by just three points, so each race result will bring them a little closer to the title. The main contenders for the top rung on the podium in the ADAC MX Junior Cup are most likely to be the leader in the standings, Maksim Kraev (14, RUS, Garim MX Team, KTM), the second-placed rider Rene Hofer (14, AUT, MSC Imbach by MEFO Sport/Kini KTM Junior Pro Team) and Meico Vettik (13, EST, Mefo Sport Racing Team, KTM), who is currently third. Just how strongly ambition burns to be rewarded for good performance with the all-important trophy is very apparent even among the youngest riders in the racing series. Incidentally, the ADAC MX Junior Cup title would be Hofer's third major title this season, since so far in 2016 he has already been crowned European champion and world champion in the 85cc class.
A Team Germany press conference for this year's Motocross of Nations (MXoN) will also be held during the ADAC MX Masters in Gaildorf on Saturday evening at 18:30. Team principal Wolfgang Thomas will announce the names of the riders who will finally go through as the German national MX squad to line up in the prestigious event which will be held on the weekend of 24th/25th September at Maggiora in Italy. Team Germany managed to bring the coveted Chamberlain Trophy back home for the first time in 2012 since when, the Germans have consistently ranked among the top ten best teams in the world.
The whole family will enjoy coming to the ADAC MX Masters. The younger visitors can let off steam at the ADAC Young Generation Suzuki Quad track and in the ADAC Insurance bouncy castle, while the grown-ups can enjoy an eclectic mix of fan stands and snack bars. On Sunday, there will also be an autograph signing session with all the top stars on the MX scene. Max Nagl, Dennis Ullrich, Henry Jacobi and Harri Kullas will be at the ADAC truck in Gaildorf to answer fans' questions from 12:15 to 12:45. A weekend ticket for the over-16s costs 28 euros. Admission is free for children and teenagers under 16 accompanied by an adult.
