Ullrich makes it a clean sweep in Möggers: 12,600 visitors come to ADAC MX Masters in Möggers, Austria

Race Sunday proved once again that the ADAC MX Masters at the Austrian circuit in Möggers is a real crowd puller. As the sun shone and the thermometer hit 26 degrees, some 12,600 visitors watched the 120 riders who had qualified on Saturday from a total of 244 entrants, battle it out for valuable points in the three classes. Two-time ADAC MX Masters champion and world championship rider Dennis Ullrich (22, KTM Sarholz Racing Team) was particularly impressive. The 22-year-old was on top form, securing victory and the championship lead with two comfortable race wins. "I´m very pleased with my excellent results. I´ve changed my training routine in recent weeks and focused more on technology. Plus, the bike was perfectly set up for me, so that I was able to go out there and make the best of the track today. And as we often so aptly say: More fun, more speed," said the delighted young German. Ullrich´s team-mate and world championship rider Harri Kullas (24/FIN, KTM Sarholz Racing Team) was second overall. Dominique Thury (23, Falcon Motorsports KTM) took the trophy for third place.

ADAC MX Youngster Cup

Two young men caused a bit of a stir in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup made on race Sunday. Dutchman Bas Vaessen (18, Team Suzuki World MX2) fought tooth and nail in Race 1 with Belgian rider Nathan Renkens (18, WZ Racing, KTM) for a place on the podium. But when both of them took a tumble on the penultimate lap, Vaessen was the quicker of the two to get back on his bike and won the first race in the end. By taking fourth place in Race 2, the Suzuki rider ultimately secured the win on the day in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup and told us afterwards: "Thus is my second time now here in Möggers, and I remember it well from being here in my last ADAC MX Masters in 2010. It´s such a beautiful spot. I´m very pleased with my first victory. My weekend couldn´t have ended better." Finnish rider Miro Sihvonen (17, Diga Junior Racing Team) was second overall. This is his debut year in the race series, but he went straight into the lead in the standings at the season opener in Fürstlich Drehna. And, with victory on the day, he retains the lead after his fine performance in Möggers and is still 19 points up on Stefan Ekerold (20, Bodo Schmidt Motorsport) in second place. "I made a bad start in the first race and could then only finish seventh. That made me really mad, and I used my anger to push me forwards in the second race, so that I finished the second race in first position," said the 17-year-old. Czech rider Martin Krc (19, Sturm Racing Team, KTM) joined the party on the podium in third place on the day.

ADAC MX Junior Cup

Things did not go as planned in the ADAC MX Junior Cup for local rider and former championship leader Rene Hofer (14, MSC Imbach by MEFO Sport/Kini KTM Junior Pro Team). The 14-year-old could no longer continue after suffering technical problems caused by a defective ignition component immediately at the start in the first race. He placed sixth in the standings after a win in the second race. His retirement in the first race directly cost him the championship lead, which his rival, Maksim Kraev (13 / RUS, Garim MX Team, KTM), took over with his victory in Möggers. "Of course, I´m frustrated that I couldn´t score the points that I wanted here in my homeland, but on the other hand, it spurs me on to do everything I can in Aichwald to regain the lead," said the young talent, who is sponsored by MX legend Heinz Kinigadner (56). His rival Kraev, however, was really pleased with his result and said: "It makes me very proud that I was able to show my family and my team that I can do well even on hard ground which I´m not really used to. Regarding the championship, though, it now adds a little bit of extra spice, because I have a very strong opponent, Rene Hofer, breathing down my neck." Swiss rider Mike Gwerder (Husqvarna) was second overall. South African youngster, Cameron Dürow (13, DAM Racing, KTM), finished third.

This year´s third ADAC MX Masters event will take place in Aichwald in Baden-Württemberg. The 1,755-metre ‘In den Horben´ field track will attract thousands of spectators to the grounds of the MSC ‘Eiserne Hand´ organising club. Their twisty racetrack with its many opportunities to take the jumps provides motocross action at its best. Moreover, two-time ADAC MX Masters champion and successful world championship rider Max Nagl (28, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team) will be on hand, lining up as a local rider for his club.
