It’s now been around six weeks since the finale of the 2017 ADAC MX Masters, and the schedule for next season, setting out where and when Europe’s most popular motocross racing series will race, has already been finalised. There will again be seven meetings in 2018, including one in Austria. Plus, four classes will line up under the banner of the ADAC MX Masters with the introduction of the new ADAC MX Junior Cup 125cc category as of next season. The race weekends will take place during the period from the end of April to the beginning of September, and as usual, the new MX season will kick off at MSC Fürstlich Drehna eV in the Dahme-Spreewald district of Brandenburg, about 100 kilometres south of Berlin. Riders will immediately be faced with a tough challenge during this first meeting on the weekend of 21st - 22nd April at the sandy 1.65-km Rund um den Mühlberg circuit, as the track belonging to the club which was founded in 1979 is one of the most demanding on the ADAC MX Masters calendar.
Some four weeks after the start of the new season, on 26th/27th May, the sand specialists among the MX riders will again have to step up to the plate. The second round of the 2018 ADAC MX Masters will be staged on the 1.63-km Grambeker Heidering at MSC Mölln eV. The circuit, run by the club which was first inaugurated in 1952, is very spectator-friendly thanks to the presence of a stadium but is particularly tricky for the riders with its combination of loose sandy soil and firmer sections.
ADAC MX Masters teams and riders will then head to North Rhine-Westphalia in the west of Germany for a meeting at MSC Drabenderhöhe-Bielstein eV’s 1.83-km Waldkurs, 23rd/24th June. This track that leads through forest and meadows is a real challenge, as riders have to deal with a great many steep slopes and light conditions that are constantly changing.
Austrian club MCC Möggers eV will host the fourth ADAC MX Masters meeting on 14th/15th July at their 1.85-km circuit, set on the side of a hill against the stunning backdrop of Lake Constance.
Riders and teams will then travel north again for the fifth meeting of 2018 at MCE Tensfeld eV where the motocross riders will rock up to the starting gate on July 28th/29th at the 1.85-km sandy circuit 60 kilometres northwest of Lübeck.
On August 25th and 26th, the MX elite will go head-to-head at the 1.565-km Talkessel basins belonging to MSC Teutschenthal eV some 25 kilometres west of Halle (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt. The club, which has been going since 1966 and has hosted world championship races for many years now, last hosted the race series three years ago. The ADAC MX Junior Cup 125ccm and the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85ccm will not be contested at this meeting.
The final round of the 2018 ADAC MX Masters will take place on the 8th and 9th of September at MSC Gaildorf eV. The 1.654-km Auf der Wacht clay track has won the award for Best Track three times in the past, and the club has also been named Best Organisers five times.
MX riders can sign up for the new ADAC MX Masters season as of December 1st at www.adac-mx-masters/online-nennung by registering for one of the four ADAC MX Masters classes according to age and engine capacity. The ADAC MX Junior Cup 85cc is for teenagers aged from 10 to 15 while the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125cc is for 13 to 18-yer-olds. Competitors in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, aged between 14 and 21, use a mix of 125cc and 250cc bikes. Pro riders aged 15 and above can enter the ADAC MX Masters. Privateers competing in the top class have their own classification. Final starting places will be allocated after on-line registration has taken place.
