ADAC MX Masters·4.5.2017

About the ADAC MX Masters: The race organisers: Rider database, starter lists, prize money...

The ADAC MX Masters is the most popular motocross series in Europe, with anything up to 600 riders registering every year. And this is where the series organisers come in. After the mandatory online registration, the riders have to send in the paper version of the registration form which includes their personal details such as date of birth, address, contact details and leisure interests, from which a digital profile can be entered in the rider database. This database is central to the entire ADAC MX Masters year, with every update or change, team transfer or additional item of information being stored in it.

In the run-up to each Masters event, a new starter list is created with a maximum of 96 entrants per class. The allocation of starting places is based on level of performance, which is why the ADAC MX Masters always has such a high-calibre line-up of riders and can guarantee competitive racing with plenty of thrilling wheel-to-wheel action. In addition, the local organisers have the opportunity to select three ‘wild card’ riders per class to compete with the international elite on that particular weekend.

Before each event, a meeting with the local club takes place, at which the exact procedures to be followed in the ADAC MX Masters are discussed and any grey areas are clarified. When the race weekend eventually gets underway, the riders are looked after by the race office of the host club. Upon arrival at the race venue, contestants go to the Welcome Center where they are issued with their entrance and access authorisations as well as all information relating to the event. After that, the MX stars proceed to Document Acceptance, where club members and helpers check their licences and also take receipt of their registration fees.

Throughout the race weekend, the ADAC organisational team is busy liaising with the timekeepers and the race office to draw up starter and results lists for the different motocross classifications and to make these available to the competitors at the track and online. Saturday is when free practice, qualifying and the ‘last chance’ races take place. On Sunday, there are two motos in each of the three classes. There are two free practice groups, one for the riders with odd numbers and one for the evens. The starting order for the qualifying heats is determined by the championship standings and then by starting numbers. If a rider does not qualify outright, he or she can still do so via the ‘last chance’ race on Saturday afternoon.

In order to compete in the ADAC MX Masters, entrants must pay a registration fee and be in possession of the appropriate licence. If they come from another country, they need to present their international starter permit. The prize money is paid out at the end of the individual race weekends and there are bonus payouts for the number of appearances at the end of the season.
