This year’s ADAC MX Masters final is just nine weeks ago, but plans for the 14th season of Europe’s most popular motocross racing series are already well under way. Registration for the seven meetings in 2018 will open on 1st December when riders will be able to register for their respective classes at www.adac.de/mx-masters. The original signed entry form must be received by the ADAC before the closing date on 12th February, 2018.
The ADAC MX Masters is set to feature four categories for the first time next year, as there will in future be an extra category, the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, positioned between the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 and the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. The purpose of this new class is to smooth the transition up into the ADAC MX Youngster Cup for young talents aged between 13 and 18. Motocross riders aged between 14 and 21 years line up in the Youngster class and, as of next year, will be able to compete on 250cc two-stroke motorcycles in addition to the 125cc two-stroke bikes and the 250cc four-stroke machines currently in use. This innovation means that the ADAC MX Masters’ regulations are now in line with those of the FIM.
48 places at the starting gate will be up for grabs next season in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 and ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, so there will be no Last Chance race in these two classes during 2018. The allocation of starting places will depend on what riders have achieved so far and on the evaluation course, through which young talents can qualify for a place in their respective class. This evaluation course is being organised by the ADAC for those wishing to join the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 and ADAC MX Junior Cup 125. The ADAC will announce the venue and date for the course presently.
Advance ticket sales for the 2018 ADAC MX Masters will commence in mid-December. Tickets will be available online at www.adac.de/mx-masters. MSC Fürstlich Drehna eV will, as usual, organise the opening round at their club in Brandenburg. The MX riders will meet next at Mölln in Schleswig-Holstein and then at Bielstein, North Rhine-Westphalia. The European elite will gather for an international leg of the campaign against the Alpine splendour of Möggers in Austria. Round five will again take place at Tensfeld in the north to be followed by Teutschenthal in Saxony-Anhalt before the MX stars go head-to-head at the finale in Gaildorf, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Thanks to the additional class, some 300 riders from more than 25 countries nations will contest each race weekend. A considerable amount of prize money, around a quarter of a million euros, plus numerous prizes of equipment from well-known manufacturers can be won.
