Holzgerlingen finale: Jeremy Seewer triumphs: Local favourites Dennis Ullrich and Maik Schaller delight Holzgerlingen crowd

The ADAC MX Masters finale at KfV Kalteneck eV in Holzgerlingen was sensational. Some 11,000 spectators were at the seventh meeting of the race series at the Schützenbühlring to enjoy high-calibre racing in all three classes for the last time this season. Among the big boys, the many world championship stars were especially successful in a field of riders that was definitely top-class anyway. MX2 world champion Jeremy Seewer (23, Team Suzuki World MX2) was the most successful, taking second place in the first race and a win in Race 2. Seewer: "I think it's really great to score points here. I had an exciting time chasing Max, and it was a lot of fun. What's more, I was on a 450cc bike to get some experience for the Motocross of Nations where I will be representing Switzerland next weekend." World champion Max Nagl (30, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team) was second on the day. Australian world championship rider Hunter Lawrence (18, Team Suzuki World MX2) finished third and took a podium. Local favourite and ADAC MX Masters four-time champion Dennis Ullrich (24, KTM Sarholz Racing Team), riding a 250cc two-stroke machine at Holzgerlingen, finished his final race weekend this season in fifth place. He also won a Red Bull Holeshot Award. The region's hero, Maik Schaller (25, KTM Kosak Racing Team) was not as successful as Ullrich with his P28 but the local crowd cheered him just as much for his performance anyway. ADAC MX Masters rider Christian Brockel (33, KTM GST Berlin) was also loudly applauded as he drew his motocross career to a close at the season finale in Holzgerlingen.

After Ulle's early ADAC MX Masters victory in Gaildorf, Belgian rider Jens Getteman (24, Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil) was able to successfully defend his position as ADAC MX Masters runner-up. World championship rider Henry Jacobi (20, STC Racing Team) won a trophy for third place. ADAC MX Youngster Cup

In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, New Zealand's Dylan Walsh (19, Diga Procross Team, Husqvarna) caused a small sensation during this seventh and crucial meeting. The MX talent from Christchurch had entered as a rookie in Class 2 and was riding for the first time in an ADAC MX Youngster Cup race. Walsh excelled at all times when it mattered, and after triumphing in the qualifying session on Saturday, he went on to win both races on Race Sunday, taking victory on the day into the bargain. "The weekend went superbly well for me and couldn't have been better. I've definitely got the bug now and intend to line up in the ADAC MX Masters next year, come what may. Just to see the huge crowds here was amazing. It all made a big impression on me," said the 19-year-old. His team-mate Adrien Malaval (19, Diga Procross Team, Husqvarna) finished second in the standings on the day, enabling him with his fine performance to score vital points and take third place in the championship. Malaval: "I moved from France to Germany at the beginning of the year to drive my motocross career forwards, so I'm very happy with these results, as it's the just reward for quite a few months of hard work. Besides, I had some exciting scraps in both races with champion Tom Koch, which was a really cool experience." By the way, Koch (19, KTM Sarholz Racing Team) finished this season in third place in the day's rankings while Latvian Thomas Sileika (19, WZ Racing, KTM) was second in the championship table. Two riders stood out as 'superb starters' in 2017. Koch and Michael Sandner (18, Thermotec Racing KTM by Mefo) swept the board between them in the Red Bull Holeshot classification.

ADAC MX Junior Cup

The Scandinavians dominated the final weekend in the ADAC MX Junior Cup. It was already clear after the first race that Danish rider Magnus Smith (13, Mefo Sport Racing Team, KTM), who was definitely the favourite in any case, had secured enough points to win the 2017 ADAC MX Junior Cup championship, a result that rendered the teenager speechless at first. "This is a totally cool feeling. I just can't take it all in. I only joined the race series last year, so I'm incredibly proud that I've been able to finish my second season in the ADAC MX Junior Cup by taking the title," said the 13-year-old. Immediately after hearing the good news about his victory, he received 'three cheers' from his parents. Danish rider Rasmus Pedersen (14, Team Classic Oil / SHR Motorsports, KTM) scored more highly than Swiss teenager Luca Diserens and the overall winner Magnus Smith In the day's standings. In the championship, Swedish rider Max Palsson (14, Mefo Sport Racing Team) was honoured after Smith with a trophy as runner-up as was the Dane Pedersen in third place. The Red Bull Holeshot Award for the season's best starter went to Nick Domann (14, Falcon Motorsports, KTM).

Motocross of Nations - Preview

Max Nagl, Henry Jacobi and Dennis Ullrich will rock up at the starting gate in a week's time, not as opponents, but as Team Germany in the prestigious motocross team championship, the Motocross of Nations. This stand-out meeting will take place from 30th September - 1st October in the UK at Matterley Basin near Winchester. The goal of the German MX national team is a place in the Top Ten. Team Principal Wolfgang Thomas: "All three guys have shown that they are very much on an upward trend this year as regards performance, so it's quite realistic to think that we can be among the front-runners. 2017 will mark the fourth time in a row that these three riders have jointly contested the MXoN. With the exception of a retirement in 2016 that was the result of injury, Nagl, Ullrich, Jacobi have impressed so far with a fifth place in Kegums, Latvia, and a P9 at Ernée in France.
