Team Suzuki World MX2 riders put their stamp on the ADAC MX Masters premiere at MSC Mölln in Schleswig-Holstein this weekend. Swiss world championship star Jeremy Seewer (22, Team Suzuki World MX2) took victory on the day in front of 6,100 spectators, winning both races by a big margin. "It was a lot of fun to finally be back in a Masters race. I still think it's a top-class championship series and that it's very similar in format to the world championship. The practice sessions and riding round the track were excellent preparation for the next MX GP in Teutschenthal," said the 22-year-old, summing up his race weekend in northern Germany. He is currently second in the MX2 world championship. His team-mate Hunter Lawrence (17/AUS, Team Suzuki World MX2) finished second on the day, just as he had done at the second ADAC MX Masters meeting in Jauer. Third place overall in the standings went to Henry Jacobi (20, STC Racing, Husqvarna). Front-runner Dennis Ullrich (23, KTM Sarholz Racing Team) placed fourth on the day with a P7 and a P3.
Local rider Davide von Zitzewitz (25, BvZ Racing Team, KTM) came home 31st and was disappointed at not having reached his actual goal of a place in the Top Twenty. "I've often practised here and know the Grambeker Heidering circuit really well, but I never expected the track to deteriorate so rapidly, so I didn't manage very well here today. I ran out of steam pretty quickly and couldn't score any points as a result. Still, I can take some consolation from the fact that my fans cheered me on loudly, which did me a power of good," said the student from Hoisdorf near Hamburg.
Dennis Ullrich is now on 128 points, putting him 24 points ahead of his rival Jens Getteman (23 / BEL, Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil), and so, Ullrich still leads the championship after this third ADAC MX Masters meeting in Mölln. The Australian Hunter Lawrence on 88 points is in third place in the standings. The highlights from the ADAC MX Masters in Mölln will be broadcast on 20th May at 12.15 pm by Sport1+ and on 28th May at 4.06 pm by Motorvision TV.
ADAC MX Youngster Cup
In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, young German rider Tom Koch (19, KTM Sarholz Racing Team) enjoyed success right across the board in Schleswig-Holstein. With second place in Race 1 and a win in Race 2, the 19-year-old not only took victory on the day for the first time but also became the new leader in Class 2. "With four laps to go before the end, I managed to pass the guy who had led up until then. I also managed to get into a good rhythm. I think my decent performance shows that I'm on form and could achieve a great deal this year. But we still have four races to go, so I'd rather not make any predictions," said Koch. Danish rider Glen Meier (18, KTM Kosak Racing Team) and the Czech, Martin Krc (20, Sturm Racing Team, KTM), finished second and third respectively.
ADAC MX Junior Cup
Things were extremely exciting in the ADAC MX Junior Cup. The Australian Jett Lawrence (13, Team Suzuki World MX2) appeared to be having the race of his life in this third ADAC MX Masters meeting in northern Germany as he secured victory on the day in the junior class with two race wins. The teenager fought a thrilling battle with his rival Max Palsson (14 / SWE, Team Mefo Sport Racing, KTM) and went on to lap him just before the end. In the second race, Lawrence comfortably drew away from him, pulling out a lead of 27 seconds. "I myself am surprised at how well it all went for me. I managed to get one of the best starts of the year at Mölln and then just rode on autopilot. My aim was to put as big a gap as possible between myself and my rivals in order to have a bit of a cushion in case I made a mistake," said the 13-year-old, who, like his brother Hunter, was soundly cheered on the podium by his parents. The lead at the head of the table changed hands again in Mölln. Notching up a second and a third place, Swedish rider Palsson not only secured enough points in both races to place second overall but to become the new leader in the standings. The Dane Magnus Smith (13, Mefo Sport Racing Team, KTM) impressed with third place overall. He now lies in second place ahead of the Australian, Lawrence, in the championship standings.
