After a successful start to the season with 11,500 fans at MSC Fürstlich Drehna eV, the ADAC MX Masters is heading to MC Jauer eV in east Germany for its second meeting of the season (29th/30th April). Taking part will be some 240 riders from more than 25 countries, including Jens Getteman from Belgium (23, Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil) and the second-placed rider in the standings, Dennis Ullrich from Germany (23, KTM Sarholz Racing Team). Getteman and Ullrich had many an exciting wheel-to-wheel scrap in both races at the first race weekend, which they intend to repeat in Saxony, but while the Belgian may have had the advantage in Fürstlich Drehna as a sand specialist, hard-ground expert, Ulle, could come into his own in Jauer. He had a good showing there when he took third place on the demanding 1,650-metre Am Hahneberg clay track back in 2014 and a win on the day the following year.
Joining the 'big boys' as a newcomer this year, world championship rider Hunter Lawrence from Australia (17, Team Suzuki World MX2), will also be in the line-up. Reigning ADAC MX Youngster Cup champion Bas Vaessen (18, NED, Team Suzuki World MX2) has had to rest a fractured clavicle for a few weeks but intends to compete again in the top flight and gain more experience, having now recovered and returned to fitness. Dominique Thury (24, KTM GST Berlin) will be contesting the second round of the ADAC MX Masters as the local favourite. For years now, he has regularly trained at the track belonging to MC Jauer eV which was founded in 1988. Of all the competitors in the race series, he is best acquainted with the circuit's 21 table tops and technically sophisticated flowing sections. "I wasn't up to full fitness at Fürstlich Drehna, so I really hope that I can do much better at Jauer. My goal is to compete up front and secure a place in the Top Five," said the 24-year-old.
The Finn, Miro Sihvonen (18, Diga Junior Racing Team, KTM), intends to extend his lead in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. He is currently 12 points ahead of French rival, Zachary Pichon (16, Team Suzuki World MX2) and 18 points up on Nichlas Bjerregaard from Denmark (20, Team Classic Oil, SHR Motorsports). The format for qualifying in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup has had a makeover for 2017 in order to give increased support to two-stroke riders contesting the race series. As of this year, the five best two-stroke and five best four-stroke riders will qualify for race Sunday, thus giving more younger competitors the chance of a slot at the starting gate. Thanks to the new ruling, for example, Estonian rider Meico Vettik (13, KTM Racing Team Estonia) and the Slovenian, Maks Mausser (14, Yamaha), who have just moved up to the Youngsters from the ADAC MX Junior Cup for 2017, were able to qualify at Fürstlich Drehna.
In the ADAC MX Junior Cup, Swedish teenager Max Palsson (14, KTM) is really looking forward to his next ADAC MX Masters meeting. The young Scandinavian impressed at the season opener as fastest in qualifying and winner on the day. He now intends to repeat his performance and secure top positions at Jauer. However, he should not underestimate rival Jett Lawrence (14, AUS, Team Suzuki World MX2), who also had a strong showing in the opener. Currently placed second and third respectively, Adam Zsolt Kovacs (13, HUN, HTS Team by Mefo Sport, Yamaha) and Magnus Smith (13, DEN, Mefo Sport Racing Team, KTM) are also keen to do well. Liam Everts (12, BEL, Team Suzuki World MX2), the son of motocross legend Stefan Everts, will be contesting the ADAC MX Junior Cup for the first time.
The ADAC MX Masters at Jauer, some 50 kilometres north-east of Dresden, is a top event for both young and old. Apart from the action on the track, there will also be the ADAC Young Generation Suzuki Quad Parcours to look forward to, plus, a very varied support programme for children, featuring the ADAC Insurance bouncy castle and an autograph-signing session on Sunday from 12.15 to 12.45 with the top stars from the motocross scene. At Jauer, it will be the turn of local rider, Dominique Thury, world championship rider Hunter Lawrence, ADAC MX Masters three-time champion Dennis Ullrich, and the two young MX talents Jens Getteman and Bas Vaessen to spend half-an-hour, signing posters and taking selfies with fans. On Friday and Saturday night, two bands, Jolly Jumper and RMC, signed up by organising club MC Jauer, will have the marquee rocking and rolling, keeping the 'grown-ups' entertained. A weekend ticket for adults costs 24 euros with a reduced admission charge of eight euros for children/teenagers. MC Jauer eV have hosted the ADAC MX Masters since 2013 and will be organising the meeting this season for the fourth time after a one-year break.
The ADAC MX Masters is supported by Red Bull, Suzuki, Motul, 24MX, Maxxis, Nolan, Allianz, Racing Policy, KTM, Husqvarna, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Ortema, Magura, Motocross Enduro, Motorrad, Cross Magazin, Dirtbiker, Goldfren, Tsubaki, Leatt Corporation as well as by Mefo Sport and its partners, Acerbis and Mefo Mousse.
