On 15th and 16th July, Europe's motocross elite will meet for the fifth time this season at MCE Tensfeld eV. This event is a very special one, because the ADAC MX Masters will be celebrating reaching a special milestone in Schleswig-Holstein with its 100th meeting. Some 245 riders from more than 26 different countries, including many motocross talents from the north of Germany, have registered for the race weekend at the 1.850-metre sandy track. Mike Stender (26, Team Castrol Power 1 Suzuki Moto-Base) has been a member of MCE Tensfeld eV for several years. As one of the local riders, he is well aware of the pitfalls presented by the biggest MX sandpit in the whole of Germany. "Sandy tracks like the one in Tensfeld can test even world championship riders to the limit, as the track is constantly changing, and you have to be extremely fit if you want to score plenty of points there. My goal is to finish in the Top Ten twice in order to secure vital points towards the championship. Many of my friends and family members will be coming along specially to cheer me on," said the 26-year-old, who is currently ranked ninth in the standings. Michel Kaschny from Borstel-Hohenraden near Pinneberg (27, TTW-Offroad Team, KTM) is another 'northern light', who will be aiming to see off the competition on the sandy circuit.
The battle for the number-one spot in the top flight is particularly exciting at the moment. Dennis Ullrich (23, KTM Sarholz Racing Team) on 178 points is currently in the lead and so, is 43 points up on his rival, Jens Getteman (23, BEL, Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil). "I'm in a winning mood and have already shown this season on Fürstlich Drehna's deep sand and also on the partly sandy track at Mölln that I can secure decent results at circuits that are not hard, so I can feel confident about Tensfeld and will attempt to leave Jens Getteman trailing behind me and increase the gap on him even more," he said in the run-up to the meeting. However, Ulle will face stiff opposition in the north of Germany not just from the Belgian, Getteman, but also from world championship star Jorge Prado (16, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team), who will also be taking part and intends to be among the front-runners. Other current favourites include Henry Jacobi (20, STC Racing Team, Husqvarna), who is in fourth place in the standings and Christian Brockel (33, KTM GST Berlin) in fifth position.
The hunt for the top spot in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup is also very interesting. The East German, Tom Koch (19, KTM Sarholz Racing Team), took the lead after the ADAC MX Masters races in Mölln and is currently 25 points up on Thomas Sileika (19, LAT, WZ Racing, KTM) and 27 ahead of Richard Sikyna (19, SLO, MX Slovakia, KTM). Last year's ADAC MX Junior Cup champion, Rene Hofer (15, Kini KTM Racing Team) from Austria, is another strong competitor, making his debut in Class 2 at Tensfeld and hoping to use his European championship experience to the full. "I'm really looking forward to my first race in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup at Tensfeld, because I had a very positive experience there last year as a junior and thought it was a terrific meeting, and also because my rookie season in the European championship is going really well and I'm highly motivated," said the rider, who is sponsored by MX legends Heinz Kinigadner, Didi Lacher and Pit Beirer. As in the top flight, there will also be a number of North Germans competing in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup this weekend, including Jan Allers (18, BvZ Racing Team, KTM) from Nützen in the Segeberg area.
The youngest motocross talents in the ADAC MX Junior Cup will be back in action at Tensfeld after taking a break last time at Bielstein. During this 13th season of the racing series, the lead at the top of the standings has constantly been changing hands between the two Scandinavian riders, Max Palsson (14, SWE, Mefo Sport Racing Team) and Magnus Smith (13, DEN, Mefo Sport Racing Team). The young Swede Palsson currently has the edge with a five-point lead. Liam Everts (12, BEL, Team Suzuki World MX2), the son of record world champion Stefan Everts, has also registered to take part again. This is the twelve-year-old's first season in the ADAC MX Junior Cup. He produced a strong performance on his ADAC MX Masters debut at Jauer, especially in qualifying, crossing the finish line as the seventh fastest in his group. Maikel Ziller (15, HSD Racing Team, KTM) from Satjendorf near Kiel in North Germany has the home advantage.
Apart from a one-year break, MCE Tensfeld eV has been with the ADAC MX Masters since the very first. Current world championship stars - Max Nagl, Ken de Dyker, Evgeny Bobryshev and Thomas Kjer Olsen - made headlines in the past at the notoriously sandy track by winning on the day. To mark this 100th meeting, there will also be a comprehensive support programme for the whole family, both adults and children, to enjoy away from the race action. Entertainment for our younger visitors will be provided by the ADAC Insurance bouncy castle and the ADAC Young Generation Suzuki Quad trail. All spectators will be able to try out the various stands for fans that also add spice to this motocross festival taking place some 45 kilometres northwest of Lübeck. The top stars from the motocross scene will be at the ADAC Truck for an autograph session on Sunday from 12.15pm to 12.45pm. Taking part will be the current championship leader, Dennis Ullrich, second-placed rider, Jens Getteman, MX talent Henry Jacobi and local favourite Mike Stender.
A weekend ticket costs 17 euros for adults. Admission for teenagers aged from ten to 15 years is just seven euros. Children up to and including nine years are admitted for free when accompanied by a paying adult.
The ADAC MX Masters is sponsored by Red Bull, Suzuki, Motul, 24MX, Maxxis, Nolan, Allianz, Racing Policy, KTM, Husqvarna, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Fiat, Ortema, Magura, Motocross Enduro - Off-roadmagazine since 1971, Motorrad, Cross Magazin, Dirtbiker, Goldfren, Tsubaki, Leatt Corporation and Mefo Sport with its partners Acerbis und Mefo Mousse.
