16,000 spectators and two title wins packed with passion and excitement. The sixth ADAC MX Masters race weekend at MSC Gaildorf eV could hardly have been more thrilling for riders, spectators and teams. While the high temperatures and a sudden heavy downpour put spectators on edge, the exciting races in all three classes more than made up for the trials and tribulations. Dennis Ullrich (24, KTM Sarholz Racing Team) clinched his fourth title in the ADAC MX Masters with third place on the day. "It's just fantastic. I put some pressure on myself ahead of the race weekend and now just feel relieved through and through. It simply confirms my great performance and shows that I did everything right," said 'Ulle' proudly. This triumph now makes the four-time ADAC MX Masters champion the most successful winner to date in Europe's most popular MX racing series; he has made his home in Baden-Württemberg and lined up as the local favourite at Gaildorf.
World championship star Max Nagl (30, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team) was also a winner. The Bavarian comfortably took the lead in the two races, winning them both by a big margin on his rivals. The Husqvarna rider showed once again just why he is one of the top stars on the motocross scene. "Conditions were really challenging, but I think it was good practice for us three guys from Team Germany, as this year's Motocross of Nations will take place in England where the probability of rain is bound to be ninety percent. And so, I see this battle in the mud here at Gaildorf as great training for the MXoN," said Nagl, who obviously enjoyed his guest performance in front of thousands of fans. Young talent Stefan Ekerold (21, Team Castrol Power 1 Suzuki Moto-Base), who secured a podium at Gaildorf for the first time this season, was second on the day.
Highlights from the ADAC MX Masters at Gaildorf will be broadcast at 10.50 am on September 2nd and at 9:50 am on September 3rd by Sport 1+ and on October 22nd at 3.48 pm and on 29th October at 3.18 pm by Motorvision TV.
ADAC MX Youngster Cup
Tom Koch's (19, KTM Sarholz Racing Team) race weekend in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup was also quite special. He clinched the title in Class 2 at this penultimate race weekend of the season with second place on the day. With a lead of 57 points, he is in an unassailable position ahead of Thomas Sileika (19, LAT, WZ Racing, KTM) in P2. "I'm really surprised to have now won the ADAC MX Youngster Cup. I didn't worry too much about whether things would work out or not in the run-up to the Gaildorf meeting, because I didn't want to suffer with nerves unnecessarily, so it's all the nicer that my dream has actually come true. I'm going to throw a big party at the end of the year," said a delighted Koch. In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, French teenager Zachary Pichon (16, Team Suzuki World MX2) continued his family's success story at the Auf der Wacht track. "With this result, I've made both myself and my dad, Mickael, very happy, because he was crowned world champion twice here and loves the track just as much as I do." Just like Pichon, fellow French rider, Adrien Malaval (19 , Diga Procross Team, Husqvarna) won a prize in the Masters race series for the first time by placing third on the day.
ADAC MX Junior Cup
Unlike in the two major classes, the title in the ADAC MX Junior Cup has still to be decided. With a win and a fourth place in the second race, Magnus Smith (13, DEN, Mefo Sport Racing Team, KTM) was rewarded with victory on the day and reduced the deficit on team-mate and current leader Max Palsson (14, SWE, Mefo Sport Racing Team, KTM) to eight points. "The races were very challenging today and really took it out of me. There were plenty of deep ruts, which made the track hard to ride. I had to go carefully at all times. Added to which, of course, there was the ever-increasing pressure on me in the championship, because I would have liked to have got it back this weekend. I will do everything I can again at Holzgerlingen in the final round," said the young Scandinavian, summing up. Paul Bloy (14, Motorrad Waldmann, Suzuki) in P10 was second on the day. Championship leader, Max Palsson, in P3 also finished on the podium.
