Ideal conditions with excellent weather and plenty of thrilling racing were the main features of the second round of the ADAC MX Masters at Mölln. Some 6,000 spectators were at the Grambeker Heidering circuit to watch thrilling wheel-to-wheel action and exciting racing. The first round of the ADAC MX Masters was dominated by the battle between Henry Jacobi (STC Husqvarna Racing) and Max Nagl (TM Factory Racing). Nagl made a poor start and had to laboriously claw his way up through the field before he could attack Jacobi and finally pass him towards the end of the race. Although the Bavarian was the first to finish, he was ranked second, because he left the track in the heat of battle and inadvertently gained an advantage. "I didn't do it on purpose. It was because of the close-fought scrap," said Nagl, owning up to his mistake. "I completely understand and accept the Race Director's decision." Nagl left no room for doubt in the second round. He won the Red Bull Holeshot Award with a super-quick start and was soon able to pull out a lead. "I got away well this time and quickly pulled away in front," said Nagl. "There was just one more moment of shock-horror when a silencer bracket worked loose, causing some strange noises," Nagl told us. "But it was no big deal in the end, and I was able to secure the win."
Henry Jacobi did not get a good start in the second race after his win in the first round. He collided with a rider who fell in front of him on the first lap, took a tumble himself and dropped well down the field. It was too late for a place in the Top Ten by the time he had regained his rhythm, and he had to settle for P13. And so, Jacobi in fourth place overall ultimately missed a podium on the day by the smallest of margins. Belgian rider Ken de Dycker (WZ-Racing/KTM) finished second in the daily classification. He performed consistently well with P5 and a P4 but came under pressure towards the end of the second race and had to let two riders overtake him in the closing stages. "I can easily explain why I slowed down," said the 33-year-old, getting straight to the point. "I got cramp in my forearms in the middle of the race and had to ease off so as not to take any unnecessary risks." Nathan Renkens (KMP Honda Racing) was third on the day and achieved a podium. "My maiden podium in the ADAC MX Masters," said the Belgian. "What a terrific success for me and the whole team!" Stefan Ekerold (KTM Sarholz Racing Team) also turned in a strong performance with P3 in the second race. "I got such a good start that I just had to push the whole race," said the 22-year-old with a chuckle. "My riding style was probably not much to look at towards the end, but sometimes, you just have to finish a race, using pure willpower alone."
ADAC MX Youngster Cup
In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, Roland Edelbacher (Dimoco Europe Racing/KTM) took both his maiden podium in the ADAC MX Masters and victory on the day. "I can't begin to tell you how it feels. I'm mega happy," said the young Austrian. "After finishing seventh in the first race, I never expected to secure victory overall, but first place in the second race was what made it possible, and I was able to finish on the top rung of the podium." Second place overall went to Richard Sikyna (JD Gunnex KTM Racing Team), who moves up into fifth place in the championship standings as a result. Rene Hofer, who had travelled to Mölln as the leader in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, again showed a strong performance after his victory in the opening round at Fürstlich Drehna. "Second place in the first race was great," said the Austrian. "But in the second race, I was involved in the massive pile-up in the first corner. It was ages before I could get started again, because I had another rider's bike on top of me and had to pick my way up through the field from the very back. Given the circumstances, P10 definitely counts as a success. I've extended my championship lead at Mölln with third place on the day and am more than satisfied with that." Australian teenager Jett Lawrence (Team Suzuki Germany) had a roller-coaster of a weekend. He turned in an excellent performance in the first race and fully deserved to take his maiden win in the highly competitive junior class. In the second race, though, he took the lead immediately after the start, but it wasn't his to enjoy for very long. "My front wheel hit a stone just after the second corner, and I took a tumble," said Lawrence annoyed with events. "By the time I'd sorted myself out again, I was last, unfortunately, and had to pull out all the stops to push my way forwards back up into 15th place." Jeremy Sydow (WZ-Racing/KTM) was the best German rider in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, securing a podium for P3 in the first race.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 125
In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, Swedish rider Filip Olsson (Team Diga-Procross/Husqvarna) took the lead in the championship with victory on the day. Olsson took P1 from Raf Meuwissen (Raths Motorsports/KTM) in the closing stages of the first race and secured a well deserved victory at the chequered flag. Olsson's start in the second race was not ideal, but fourth place was enough to give him victory on the day. "That strong performance has enabled me to take the championship lead," said Olsson happily. Meuwissen did a terrific job in the second race when he had to ride the whole of the second stint without a gear-change lever and yet still managed to finish third. "I collided with a backmarker and the gear-change lever just broke off," said the Dutchman. "Fortunately, I was able to finish the race with just one gear, even if it probably sounded a bit strange heading down the fast main straight." Finnish rider Emil Weckmann (KTM) was third in the daily standings, having achieved P4 and P2. Lion Florian (KTM), who is sponsored by the ADAC Sports Foundation, finished fourth on the day at Mölln and secured a podium for third place in the first race.
ADAC MX Junior Cup 85
Camden McLellan (Kosak Racing Team/KTM) again took the win on the day in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85. The South African had previously won the opening round at Fürstlich Drehna and now also secured victory on the day at Mölln this Sunday. After making a hesitant start in the first race on Saturday and finishing third, the young 13-year-old came up trumps on Sunday in the second race to secure the win. "My start in the first race was pretty weak," said McLellan, annoyed with himself. "But things then went really well in the second round. I've extended my lead in the championship and it's given me a bit of a boost to do really well next time out too." Constantin Piller (Mefo Sport Racing Team/KTM), a German rider sponsored by the ADAC Sports Foundation, did extremely well by taking second place. The Bavarian tied on points with the winner but missed taking the win overall after making a little mistake on the second lap. "I was third and knew that I could take victory on the day," said Piller, describing the moment that was to decide everything. "Of course, I wanted to overtake Lucas Coenen, but went over the front wheel as I attempted to go past." Liam Everts (KTM) was third overall but was not at all happy with his showing at Mölln. The young Belgian followed Piller around like a shadow in the first race but did not manage to pass the German rider. A poor start in the second race prevented him from doing more on his KTM. "I was the fastest out on track but have had to settle for third place," said the son of ten-time world champion Stefan Everts in frustration. "I hope I can do better again in the next race."
