Max Nagl in pole position at Mölln: Max Nagl secures his second pole position of season in far north of Germany

The weather was fantastic for the start of the second round of the ADAC MX Masters in the far north of Germany. Qualifying and the first race in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 took place under bright blue skies at the Grambeker Heidering circuit belonging to MSC Mölln.

Spectators saw plenty of exciting racing on Saturday in the junior class, the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85. Constantin Piller (Mefo Sport Racing Team/KTM), who won through in qualifying, got a good start to the race and took the lead on the second lap after Tobias Caprani (KTM) crashed out in front of him. After that, however, young 14-year-old Piller was only able to briefly savour his chances in the race, because Belgian rider Liam Everts (KTM) was breathing down his neck from the fifth lap onwards. The son of ten-time world champion Stefan Everts piled on the pressure but could not get past German rider Piller. "My start did not go so well," said the Belgian annoyed with himself. "I touched the gate momentarily but managed to get back in the race reasonably well. I got behind Constantin and had almost caught him at one point, but then the yellow flags came out and I pulled back so as not to risk a penalty. I think I was faster, but I just could not get by. I hope tomorrow goes better!"

Piller, who is sponsored by the ADAC Sports Foundation, was highly delighted with his first win of the season and hopes to repeat his success on Sunday. "I got a good start and was then lucky enough to inherit the lead from Caprani," said the Bavarian. After that, I had to really take care to ensure that Everts didn't go by. It was very close at times, particularly in the closing stages, but I was fully focused and was able to secure the win. I'd like to finish on the podium again tomorrow." Camden McLellan (Kosak Racing Team/KTM) in third place also secured a podium. The winner of the opening round at Fürstlich Drehna secured P3 at a relatively early stage but was unable to catch Piller and Everts in the lead.

As usual, Max Nagl (TM) won through comfortably during qualifying for the top class of the ADAC MX Masters. The Bavarian rider dominated proceedings in the first group, keeping his rivals at bay with a lead of over one second. "All systems green for go," said a delighted Nagl after his success. Our bike is running really well, and I hope to achieve two wins tomorrow. However, it won't be easy, because overtaking here is extremely tricky. The start will be very important tomorrow, but the long straight should help us, because our machine has plenty of power."

Belgian rider Jens Getteman (Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil) was fastest in the second ADAC MX Masters qualifying group. He was almost a second slower than Nagl but was pleased with his performance. Getteman: "My rhythm was good earlier in practice and I posted a number of hot laps in qualifying. This circuit is very special. It's not really all that sandy and you slide around a lot, but I really enjoy the track. It's difficult to make any predictions about Sunday's race, because there are plenty of fast riders in the line-up. Still, I hope to achieve a podium." Henry Jacobi (STC Husqvarna Racing) had to be satisfied with third place in the second qualification group behind Henry Jacobi (STC Husqvarna Racing) but he won't let that ruffle his feathers after showing that he is excellent at getting away off the line last time out.

In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, Danish rider Glen Meier (Kosak Racing Team/KTM) was fastest in the first qualifying group. He kept championship leader Rene Hofer (KTM Junior Racing) at arm's length and hopes to do well in the races on Sunday. "I was the fastest in my qualifying group at Fürstlich Drehna, but things did not go so well there in the races on Sunday," said Meier. "I feel really comfortable here at Mölln. The track is great and I should have a lot of fun tomorrow with two good starts." Jeremy Sydow (WZ-Racing/KTM) dominated the second group. The German rider, who is sponsored by the ADAC Sports Foundation, posted a hot lap in the first few minutes and was even able to find a reply when Bastian Boegh Damm (Kawasaki) briefly snatched the lead from him. "I gave it my all on my last round and improved by one second," said Sydow with a chuckle, "I intend to win tomorrow for sure after such a great qualifying!"

Raivo Dankers (Team RD10 by Mefo Sport/KTM) kept up the tension to the end in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125. The Dutchman, who currently leads the championship standings, really turned up the heat on his last flying lap to snatch pole position from Filip Olssen (Team Diga-Procross/Husqvarna) by the very narrow margin of just two hundredths of a second. "I had problems getting a free lap initially," said Dankers. "But the way was clear for me in the end. Unfortunately, I made two small mistakes on that lap, but it was still enough for pole. I hope to be among the front-runners again tomorrow and defend my championship lead." Lion Florian (KTM), who is also sponsored by the ADAC Sports Foundation, was the best German rider. Finishing in sixth place, he was just two seconds down and so, should have every chance of doing well in both points-scoring races on Sunday.
