ADAC MX Masters·10.10.2018

Valuable special prizes find homes: Red Bull Holeshot Awards for Nagl, Hofer, Meuwissen, Piller and Caprani

The championship titles in the four classes of the 2018 ADAC MX Masters were handed out at the last race of the season in Holzgerlingen. The champions come from four different countries on three continents, as top honours went to the German, Henry Jacobi (STC Husqvarna Racing) in the ADAC MX Masters, the Australian Jett Lawrence (Team Suzuki Germany) in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, the Swede Filip Olsson (Team Diga-Procross/Husqvarna) in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 and the South African, Camden Mc Lellan (Cossack Racing Team/KTM) in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85, thus serving to emhasise the ADAC MX Masters’ high international profile. As befits its top status in the world of motocross, valuable prizes of equipment and money totalling some quarter of a million euros in all were won at all seven meetings and at the end of the year.

Outstanding sporting achievement and fair play also earned their reward with numerous special prizes. The fastest riders off the line in all four classes each won a Red Bull Holeshot Award. In all of the four classes, the best starter was recognised and rewarded with the prize of two VIP tickets for an exclusive Red Bull event to include a night’s hotel accommodation. The four winners also received a Red Bull refrigerator which will be refilled with free drinks during 2019. Max Nagl (TM Factory Racing) was the winner in the ADAC MX Masters class with three holeshots. In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, the award went to Rene Hofer (KTM Junior Team). The Austrian could not take part in the last three races because of an injury but had already scored so many points at the beginning of the season with three holeshots that no one was able to deny him success. In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, the Red Bull Holeshot Award went to fastest-man-off-the-mark Raf Meuwissen (Raths Motorsports/KTM), who won the start in four races. There was a tie in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 between Tobias Caprani (KTM) and Constantin Piller (Mefo Sport Racing Team/MSC Freisinger Bär/KTM), so two riders won Red Bull’s exclusive prize.

The ‘Leatt Rookie of the Year’ award is a special prize for the best young talents in the two junior classes, the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 and ADAC MX Junior Cup 125. The winners will receive prizes of top-quality clothing and protective gear for the whole of the 2019 season from South African company, Leatt. In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85, Camden Mc Lellan stood out on account of his outstanding sporting achievement, winning a Leatt Special Prize. Simon Längenfelder (Pfeil Husqvarna Junior Team) was ‘Leatt Rookie of the Year’ in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125.

The Michael Spacek Special Prize was initiated by Goldfren owner Stanislav Spacek in memory of his late son, Michael Spacek. This award recognises individuals who have displayed exceptional dedication, are outstanding as people or have impressed by demonstrating a high degree of fair play. The Michael Spacek Special Prize went to four winners this year.

Rudolf Weschta (Team AB Racing by Suzuki Reinecke) received the award for his commitment to the sport, his exemplary behaviour and his positive attitude during 15 years in the ADAC MX Masters. Camden Mc Lellan received several awards and got the Michael Spacek Prize, because at the age of only 14, he often has to leave his family and travels regularly between his home in South Africa and Germany in order to practise the sport of motocross and race at this high level. Other award winners include the Lawrence family for their exceptional personal commitment. The parents of the two boys have completely turned their backs on their life in Australia so that sons Hunter and Jett can build careers in motocross. Max Nagl also received a Michael Spacek Special Prize, because he serves as a role model for the next generation with his exemplary behaviour and extremely high degree of motivation even when things get tough. The Bavarian has competed for many years at world class level and has managed to fight his way back to the top after injury on several occasions.

The most successful team in the ADAC MX Masters is recognised each year in a special classification that takes into account the best results from all four classes. In 2018, the prize of 1,000 euros went to Monster Energy Kawasaki Elf Team Pfeil.

There is also a separate category for the most successful motorcycle manufacturer in the ADAC MX Masters. Austrian manufacturer KTM won the trophy for the 2018 season.
