ADAC MX Masters·13.4.2019

Season 15 of ADAC MX Masters gets underway: The ADAC MX Masters is one of the most popular motocross series in Europe

The ADAC MX Masters enters its 15th season in 2019. Since its debut in 2005, the international German motocross championship known as the ADAC MX Masters has established itself as a talent factory of global prominence. The 15th season of the ADAC MX Masters starts on the weekend of 13th/14th April in Fürstlich Drehna in Brandenburg.

"Attractive tracks, hard-working event hosts and local clubs, strong teams and riders, reliable partners, professional organisation and the enthusiastic response from fans have made the ADAC MX Masters a success story and a fixture in the motocross landscape in Europe in recent years," says ADAC Sports President Hermann Tomczyk. "We have built our own very distinctive conveyor pyramid around the ADAC MX Masters, starting at the age of six with the ADAC MX Academy. Many up-and-coming riders have gone through our sequential junior categories and have had the opportunity to prepare for an international professional career in an optimum environment."

The ADAC MX Masters was inaugurated in 2005, implementing a concept that had been developed jointly with former MX stars and established experts such as Didi Lacher and Pit Beirer. The first Masters champion in 2005, Ken de Dycker from Belgium, was an FIM Motocross World Championship contestant. In addition to other MXGP stars such as Glenn Coldenhoff (2015), the list of previous winners also includes the all-time best German motocross riders Max Nagl (2006/2008), Marcus Schiffer (2007/2012), Ken Roczen (2009/2010), Dennis Ullrich (2013/2014/2016/2017) and Henry Jacobi (2018).

Stars and world champions such as Kevin Strijbos, Matthias Walkner, Steve Ramon and Mickael Pichon have regularly competed for victories in the ADAC MX Masters and graced the series with their skills. They have also served as a benchmark for local riders who are able to gauge their prowess in direct competition on the track.

It's a sporting contest that 2009 world championship runner-up Max Nagl greatly appreciates: "Everyone in our sport knows about the ADAC MX Masters. I would rank the series second behind the world championship and well ahead of the other national series. I have raced in many countries, so know what I am talking about. It's not just that the organisation and the tracks are really great, but also that the sporting level is very high. Because of the professionalism and the good name of the series, many international top riders are attracted."

All points that are confirmed by four-time champion Dennis Ullrich, who personally prefers the ADAC MX Masters to the Motocross World Championship: "For me, the ADAC MX Masters is an alternative to the MXGP. The structures and the marketing are highly professional, and we riders also receive a reasonable reward for our hard work in the form of the prize money available. In addition, the ADAC MX Masters offers three professional racing series for young riders of all ages. Here too, the sporting level is very high."

The junior classes of the ADAC MX Masters have consistently attracted a high standard of entrants over the last 14 years, providing many future stars of the sport with a springboard to an international career. The later world champions Ken Roczen (2006), Jeffrey Herlings (2008) and Pauls Jonas (2011) claimed their first major title in the ADAC MX Junior Cup, thereby underscoring the status of the junior series as a global talent factory.

"For young aspiring riders, the ADAC MX Masters is almost an obligatory stage in their development," says Max Nagl, who is convinced of the international importance of the ADAC junior classes. "When I look at who is currently leading the way on the international scene and how many of them are people I know from my teenage years in the ADAC junior series, then that says it all. The youth development work being done in the three successive junior classes of the ADAC MX Masters is absolutely exemplary and is a cause for admiration all over the world."
