10,000 enthusiastic fans came through the gates of the Schützenbühlring circuit near Holzgerlingen to watch the grand finale of the 2019 ADAC MX Masters. Clinching this year’s ADAC MX Masters championship on his home track was Dennis Ullrich (Bodo Schmidt Motorsport, Husqvarna), a familiar figure in the International German Championship: it was the fifth ADAC MX Masters title for the 26-year-old from Kämpfelbach (Baden-Württemberg), which makes him the most successful rider in the history of the series. In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, the title went to Rene Hofer (KTM Junior Racing). Winner of the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 was Simon Längenfelder (WZ-Racing, KTM). Latvia’s Edvards Bidzans (WZ-Racing, Husqvarna) came out top in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85.
On Sunday evening after the race action earlier in the day, the winners were honoured at the ADAC MX Masters awards ceremony. Riders, team members and fans watched the prizes being presented at the end of a successful season. In addition to many valuable trophies, the prize pot of around a quarter of a million euros was distributed. Tribute to outstanding sporting achievements and services rendered to the ADAC MX Masters was paid in the form of special prizes.
There were three winners of the Michael Spacek Special Prize. This award was instituted by Stanislav Spacek, the owner of Goldfren, in memory of his son who died in an accident. It is in recognition of contestants who have displayed exceptional dedication, outstanding personal qualities or particular merit in the field of fair play. This year’s Michael Spacek Special Prize was shared by the Koch family, Thomas Hannecke and Simon Längenfelder.
The Koch family were chosen because the parents and grandparents have been working hard for many years to support the two brothers Tim and Tom Koch (both KTM Sarholz Racing Team) in their racing careers. Thomas Hannecke, Sports Marketing Manager Motorcycle and ATV at Suzuki Germany, is an industry partner and sponsor of motocross sports who has immense insight into the sporting scene. He was honoured for his years of exceptional commitment to youth development in the sport. Simon Längenfelder received the Michael Spacek Special Award for his outstanding sporting achievements. The teenager dominated the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 and also put in some impressive performances in the international arena.
The Leatt Rookie of the Year award also honours special sporting excellence. This special prize is awarded to promising talents in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 and in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, singling out newcomers to the class who have attracted special attention. In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85, the Leatt Rookie of the Year award went to Edvards Bidzans. The Latvian teenager had to travel a very long way to each race; for example, the distance from his home town of Riga to the final in Holzgerlingen is approximately 1,800 kilometres. He nonetheless dominated the series throughout, winning nine out of twelve races. Best rookie in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 was ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Constantin Piller (MSC Freisinger Bear, KTM). Piller is an ambitious and talented youngster who has attracted praise for his meticulous training regime. He belongs to a group of juniors who are coached by Didi Lacher. Bidzans and Piller will benefit from sponsorship by the Leatt Corporation in the 2020 season in the form of high-quality clothing and protective equipment.
A special category that rewards consistency and lightning-fast reactions at the starting gate is the Red Bull Holeshot. It is awarded to the quickest off the mark in each classification of the ADAC MX Masters on the basis of who won the most starts over the entire season. The prize in each case is a Red Bull refrigerator, which will be topped up with free drinks from Red Bull throughout the 2020 campaign. In addition, each winner will receive two VIP tickets to a top Red Bull event of their choice. In the ADAC MX Masters class, the Red Bull Holeshot went to Dennis Ullrich, in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup to Jeremy Sydow (DIGA-Procross Husqvarna), in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 to Simon Längenfelder and in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 to Tobias Caprani (Kosak Racing Team, KTM).
The overall winners in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 (Edvards Bidzans) and ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 (Simon Längenfelder) were given a voucher for a high-quality Ortema neck brace. The champion in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup (Rene Hofer) receives an Ortema chest protector.
