Bridgestone: Quality is the key: Champion Dennis Ullrich trusts in Bridgestone

In racing, the right choice of tyre is always an important factor in the quest for race wins. With the wrong tyre, the chance of a podium finish recedes. A good tyre, on the other hand, can shave seconds off the lap times of any rider. Bridgestone Germany Motorcycle PR Manager Tim Röthig explains: "In the X30, we have a tyre that performs well on 90% of all surfaces in motocross and optimally on around 40% of them." Which essentially means that, for any amateur rider, it is almost always the right choice. For MX riders with title ambitions too, it is important to have a tyre you can rely on in changing weather and track conditions.

In addition to the versatile, all-purpose X30, Bridgestone offers a full range of tyres for motocross, Enduro and hard Enduro, suitable for sand, compacted soil, mud and much more besides.

Full range

Founded in 1931 in Kurume (Japan), Bridgestone commenced motorcycle tyre production in 1964. To this day, the tyres are manufactured exclusively in Japan, which is their way of guaranteeing consistently high product quality. Tim Röthig: "We attach great importance to quality. We want our customers to feel that they can rely on our products. The customer base is huge, because the product selection includes everything from motorcycle and car tyres to tyres for aircraft and special-purpose vehicles, covering the full range of tyre sizes. Many motorcycle manufacturers choose Bridgestone as the OEM supplier for their machines because of the high quality and excellent ride characteristics of the tyres."

Tyres as the best tuning

It goes without saying that a motocross professional places the highest demands on the performance of an MX tyre. The traction must be spot on right from the start and stay that way until the end of the race. Bridgestone delivers in this area, as was amply demonstrated last year by the way that Dennis Ullrich wrapped up his fifth ADAC MX Masters title on tyres ‘made in Japan’. For many amateur riders, however, there are other criteria than top performance over a 35-minute sprint. For them too, Bridgestone tyres are the ideal choice.

Tim Röthig again: "Admittedly, we don’t offer the cheapest tyres on the market, but thanks to their high mileage, our tyres still have plenty of tread and grip at the end of a Sunday morning practice session pounding a hard surface track. Many amateur riders invest a lot of hard-earned cash in the preparation of their machines, so it’s a pity if a worn tyre spoils your day after only a few laps. The additional costs for a good tyre are relatively small compared to other accessories." And hardly any other element of the tuning is as inexpensive and, at the same time, as demonstrably productive in bringing down lap times as a set of new tyres that suit the track conditions.

Another important consideration for the consumer is a good dealer network, which Bridgestone can certainly offer. Wolfgang Terfloth, Bridgestone Germany Sales Director, is convinced that he has done business with almost every motocross dealer in Germany. Tim Röthig: "Our dealers always have good access to our products, so as an end customer you can be sure that you will always obtain your chosen tyre without delay and without having to compromise."

Youth development

Wolfgang Terfloth: "In motocross more than virtually any other motor sport, you are dealing with a younger clientele. Because we are strong believers in bringing on talented youngsters, Bridgestone has decided to enter into partnership with the ADAC MX Masters. It is the flagship series in motocross in Germany, with racing classes ranging from Juniors to established professionals." At every ADAC MX Masters race, there will be a Bridgestone race service provided by SAS Racing. Fans can also approach the SAS Racing team with any queries they may have about Bridgestone products. Among the prominent riders and teams competing on the ‘black gold’ supplied by Bridgestone are Dennis Ullrich, KTM Kosak, Kawasaki Pfeil and BvZ.
