Competitors intending to contest the full season in the four classes – the ADAC MX Masters, ADAC MX Youngster Cup, ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 and ADAC MX Junior Cup 85 – have all signed up with around five weeks to go before the start of the season at Fürstlich Drehna. Now in its 16th season, the ADAC MX Masters continues to attract a great deal of interest, and 262 riders from 26 countries will fight for championship points and titles. Registration forms from 310 applicants in total were received, but in terms of numbers, the ADAC MX Youngster Cup is the strongest class with 96 entries.
There are many potential title candidates among the 70 riders contesting the ADAC MX Masters class. In addition to five-time champion Dennis Ullrich, and Max Nagl, championship runner-up Pascal Rauchenecker from Austria, Estonia’s Tanel Leok, who finished third last year, and Jens Gettemann from Belgium, who led the standings for a long time during the 2019 season, have registered to challenge for the championship. Belgian motocrosser, Kevin Strijbos, is a new regular, joining the fight for the title and should be a big asset to the series. Gert Krestinov, the two brothers, Tom and Tim Koch, Stefan Ekerold, Lukas Neurauther, Brian Hsu and Mike Stender are also good examples of riders likely to secure podiums.
Since last year’s champion in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, René Hofer, will be contesting the MX2 World Championship and the runner-up, Jeremy Sydow, will be riding in the ADAC MX Masters class, Bastian Bogh Damm from Denmark, who finished third in 2019, should have the best chance of securing the title in Class 2. However, there are many others from both home and abroad, hoping to be top championship contenders. As regards home-grown talent, reigning ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 champion Simon Längenfelder, plus Maximilian Spies, Lion Florian and Nico Koch, all have good prospects of securing outstanding finishes.
Lots of young talents use the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125 as a stepping-stone to move up into the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, so every year, many juniors join the class on their way to the top. Of the 48 youngsters selected from 73 applicants for positions at the starting gate, Rasmus Pedersen from Denmark and Germany’s Pius Bergmann should have a good chance of securing top results and so too should ADAC Junior Cup 85 champion Edvards Bidzans and the runner-up, Tobias Caprani, who have been promoted up into Class 3.
48 riders from 62 applicants have also entered to contest the championship in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 85. The Belgian, Sacha Coenen, looks to be the top title contender on paper after finishing third last season while from a German perspective, Maximilian Werner is hoping that many more wins will follow his maiden victory last season.
